Its going to sell well, because they are only going to produce 3000 during the first year. All made will be sold. The first model year will also be the cheapest ones. The price will go up in second model year for sure.

This is a toyota...there will be less problems during the first model year vs a first model year dodge.

It all depends on what the final price will be...anything closer to $22K...and good look trying to get one of these...

Yeah, but I mean for whatever reason it doesn't. (I know it will though)

And wow, approximately 63 per state (Only saying the mainland 48 states). Crazy for big states like Cali, Texas, and Florida to see one.

im sure half of them will end up in so cal. im just curious as to what they expect the cars life expectancy to be. at 3k the initial year i dont see making much money on this thing once its all said and done, especially at the lower end of the price probability spectrum

That's 3000 for the states, there is the rest of the world. They were never going to make more than 20,000 per year. Nissan makes less than 20k 370Z per year and is doing good.

As long as they don't kill it like Honda did with the S2000...stupid honda...bring it back!

When in 2014 I'll get my daily driver, M4 F82, the BRZ STI will become my "Need for Speed" steet and track racing car, powered by a WRX STI WRC Turbo 1.6l F4 delivering 400 PS. Cops, catch me if you can!

Bingo, this happens to be the category I fall into. I want this car dearly, but am willing to wait it out for 1-2 years after initial release to get a better idea with how this coupe' takes to the [US] market.
I mean, I already have a car that's paid off...as practical as it may be, I'm neither in dire need or financially ready to go off on impulse and finance another brand new.

The people who really want these cars will buy them. Who cares if it doesn't sell as "car A" or "Truck B"? A light RWD car will sell to enthusiasts and even non-enthusiasts. Take the Scion xB. Boxy, created for the younger crowd. While it does attract a younger crowd, I've seen (As of the last few months) a lot of older folks driving it, as in 50+. If a car looks good, going by the "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" tactic, it'll be bought. I don't want to see the FR-S and BRZ end up riced out in high school parking lots in 10 years. That's a fear of mine. Luckily, the WRX, at least in my area, has escaped that and for the most part, so has the 240sx. And like half the other people in this thread, i'll mention the 350z. Case closed? I think so lol

If true that production of these cars will be rather conservative, they will sell every single one. And even though there are many "enthusiasts" that won't buy this car because they feel it's not all they asked for (low HP, no FI, no AWD), there will be people out there who don't frequent enthusiast forums and autoblog who do buy it because it's more affordable than many cars out there, and it has great looks for it's price.
