Would you trade the Nameless mid-range gains for Harley-esque rumble?

Only if the difference is slight and we're not talking 10-15 whp and 20 ft lbs of torque. I'm definitely not ruling out Nameless because they are straight beast mode with their parts.

We won't really know the power differential until someone does a proper tune with a full Uel exhaust setup. Look at how large a difference there is between just bolting on the p&l header and then adding a tune.

Also p&l offers their el header with a cat. It makes great power too.

That's a hard question... If I can get custom titanium single exit catback made by you, yes. I'll sacrifice the HP for sweet boxer rumble & titanium exhaust noise.

My welder buddy is out, so not going to happen any time in the near to medium future. Pissed off a bit because I FINALLY found a low volume supplier of superior grade seamless titanium tubing in exhaust sizes (2.750"). And muffler sizes (5"). The two missing components for us (aside from affordable shop space) were just bending (of which I have an idea that I can't test without shop and equipment) and muffler cores.

We could have used a stainless core and have a take-apart repackable design that would have to be bolted together, but have a titanium entry, can and welded double-wall tip.

Bending places seem leary about titanium, even though the grade we want is cold-formable. But problem is a non-standard wall thickness which means no inner mandrels at the shops.

Back to headers, function first for me, and the Nameless system is far in the lead there, in my opinion.

For people really into the UEL sound, I would wait to see what JDL does with their UEL. Quality looks top notch.

Ichi, the JDL system looks like it would be what you want, once their UEL is done. They went with a very nice single exit exhaust.

UEL is a beautiful sound of inefficiency. With my Nameless over/frontpipe and offset axle back I've finally come to like the exhaust sound of this engine. Not inline-4, not Porsche flat-6, and not Subaru (USDM) rumble, but pretty sexy.

I've realized that UEL sounds great, not as efficient. EL sounds like a shitty fart-canned Honda, but gets rid of torque dip and then some. Conclusion: Stick with stock headers for now.

couldn't you just toss in a different exhaust ie ARK's for a better sounding combo with EL header ...

I'm getting the FT86 Speedfactory exhaust with overpipe and catted front pipe. But it still just has too much rasp from every EL header I've heard, no matter the exhaust.

For NA/SC, should the shortest exit path means the most efficient flow? For twinscroll EL is a must, while Turbo is not. For NA, it seems that the shortest route should provide the best gain?
The UEL header seems to have the shortest exit path compared to EL.

Not true at all. Very different from the high-pitched angry bee drone of a Honda.

Well from the videos I've heard, there's a ton of rasp.

So you've never heard one in person?

Okay, then let's stop talking about it now and we can come back once everyone's heard an EL Subaru in person. Rasp will happen to UEL and EL alike depending on mufflers and resonators.

So I need to wait for the 2 other 86's in my area to get a header until I can say whether or not it sounds good? Don't think so. Most people don't hear the stuff in person before they order.
