I don't know anything about the procedure for getting an Ecutek tune. How does one get an Ecutek tune from overseas? Does the overseas vendor send you a cable then email you the maps?
step 1- pay the man
step 2- recieve cable & dongle
step 3- recieve email containing file (tune)
step 4- plug in and follow instuctions and prompts.

Super easy

I haven't seen any results from your local tuners, so I cant comment.

They also dont seem to participate on forums

Hi John,
Thanks for replying.
Umm, I'm still not sure about the way Ecutek works. Is Ecutek just the method/medium through which a tuner offer their maps?

EcuTek sells tuning software designed for protuner like myself.

In addition to that they sell cables that my customers can purchase for remote tuning and datalogging.

When I purchase the software from EcuTek it comes with STOCK ROM files.

I make my own changes and the tunes I sell are 100% mine.

Thanks JiB for the offer. A tune is not yet on the near agenda. If/when it happens it will be in conjunction with exhaust mods.

Also you can use me as the "cable guy". I've got numerous things from Visconti and will continue to do so. I mean hey, I'm all for buying Australian products hence all the 1000s of dollars of turbosmart and speedflow gear I got, there is an exception to this and MRT is a good example.
I remember back in October when I enquired MRT about a boost tune and they were like "we are the only ones that can tune your car, we are also the best" kind of attitude. Since then I've become a big fan of Visconti and even a bigger fan this weekend when I load a consideral amount of boost into the intake manifold .

Given the great level of support offered by overseas vendors, there is no real benefits in getting an ecutek tune locally, especially from mrt. Seriously, I'd like to be convinced on what extra benefits they're offering for the price they're charging...

These "benefits" are most likely due to the fact that you will be able to dyno at the same time whilst your car is receiving tweaks to the tunes.. but then again a flat rate of $990 for dyno time is ridiculous.

Local tunes are tuned for YOUR car with its specific upgrades. While there are not huge differences between a local and remote tune, anyone who wants to squeeze the most hp/tq out of their tune will do it locally on a dyno.

I wouldn't do it for the price these idiots are charging. Go FA20club.com or Visconti if you live in Aus and hurt MRT's business.

Brett travels around Oz doing 'group' tunes without a dyno or he did a few years ago. He loads a base tune and then plays with that via his laptop while you drive until he's happy, then you pay your money and say goodbye. I was tempted but it all seemed a bit unprofessional at the time.
How do you resolve any problems without a cable after that or do any updates? Post the ECU? He was asked what would happen if the tune was lost by a dealer doing an update and the reply was that you would have to pay again. That must have lost a few sales?
From memory that special group buy was at least $1000 per car instead of the usual $1500 and people were raving about how cheap it was.
