It's worth mentioning that I'd use the tires for street with only the occasional autocross event (of course, I say that before even trying my first autocross) as opposed to having dedicated track tires. |

My understanding is that the Michelin PSS are some of the best all-around tires for dd/track/auto-x use. The star specs might work as well, but they are more of a track tire, so they won't grip as well as the PSS in the wet and will wear out in fewer miles. Also the Star Specs are stiff enough to make daily driving on them noticeably less comfortable than the stock tires. (I've heard the ZIIs are a bit less stiff, but I'm not sure it's true). On the other end of the spectrum, the Continental DWs have fantastic wet grip, but aren't as good as the PSS in the dry.

I had PSS on 135. I really like they way they felt on that car. I did not have any experience beyond normal street driving. I do know I will replace my stock tires with PSS. But, with the amount of miles I drive that is probably a year or 2 away.

Another good tire option that meet the "best of both worlds" is the Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole positions. They are quiet for daily driving without feeling soft, supply great response and traction both wet and dry. The slip is predictable and doesnt make a scene while doing so because like any good tire they don't scream as you rotate a corner. Just a good option without going dedicated R compound.

Good news- Perrin PSRS is on, the tires came in, but bad news, they arent mounted, and I have yet to get it re-aligned. Saturday is not happening. If the weather stops being crappy that would be nice, it was full on blizzard conditions up here and points north.

Well, I have not posted in a little while, but I have given "Nikita" some goodies. Got my AVO intake pipe in, my WORKS drop in filter, and my FA20club STG2 tune and cable in.
And have a single exit track pipe on order from Nameless. Coming along nicely. Trying to decide whether to get the P&L midpipe next, or my wheels... |
