yeah, i understand that the tunes cant be modified, because all of the hard work of a tuner can just be poached by another.

So in Oz Ecutek don't act as the distributor, they give that job to MRT.
There's the double dip that we pay for. I find this line hard to believe? This is different to the rest of the world and the pricing reflects that. Let's face it, we get nothing extra for the double dip, it all goes into the pockets of Ecutek and MRT. We get the same product and service[if we're lucky] as the customers in the US. The best approach is to go elsewhere until Ecutek get the message and treat us the same as all the other countries. The results posted by MRT for their inflated prices are weak compared to the US tuners although they still claim they are at the top of the game. How about sending that letter to the ACCC[Australian Competition and Consumer Commission] to see if they agree we should be treated differently to the rest of the world? Copied from the post above, below. MRT is our distributor of our products in Australia. We have long term established relationship where MRT will sell, support and promote our products in Australia. MRT provide support and training for a sub dealer network inside Australia, all EcuTeK tuners spend a lot of time on development, testing and training using our products exclusively. This is different to the rest of the world and the pricing reflects that. If you feel your pricing is too high then contact Brett Middleton to negotiate a better price, Brett is a business man and does not want unhappy customers and is also keen to secure new customers. The Australian product and service provided should not be compared other cut throat markets like the USA where everything is driven and decided on cost alone. EcuTeK is a tool that our dealers use to develop tuning calibrations, the price reflects the effort that’s made. Like most things in life you get what you pay for, service and support are as important as the purchase and sale itself. |

I forgot to comment on this line before.
The Australian product and service provided should not be compared other cut throat markets like the USA where everything is driven and decided on cost alone. Substitute 'competitive' for 'cut throat markets' because reading this forum the US gets much better service than we do. |

I feel bad for you guys. I would rather starve than drink that kool-aid that they're offering.

overseas tune
Quote:
I have had a tune from an overseas vendor for many months. The price about 60 - 70% to wjat MRT is offerings. I get constant updates from the vendor as well. Others I have known have flashes from other ecutek vendors as well. All they are purchasing is the flash file and not a new license. If I am not mistaken the DESKey is linked to your VIN.

Is someone going to mail the government about this? curious what they would have to say. That being said I've had many many conversations with EcuTek about what's going on over in AUS. I personally dont think its a good arrangement for the customers or EcuTek.. EcuTek would sell many more units if MRT didn't have his hands in everything. Maybe you guys can get a online petition going.. That's about all I want to say about that, but its very clear that you can NOT stop people from shopping around. |

I know this is off topic but related.
I don't know anything about the procedure for getting an Ecutek tune. How does one get an Ecutek tune from overseas? Does the overseas vendor send you a cable then email you the maps? |
