Thunderhill Raceway 3/2/2013 (Video)
Lots more fun around thunderhill (CA) in my lightly modified FR-S. Only new mod was custom cat back instead of a muffler delete, and a rear diffuser.
I was quite a bit faster out there this time around. I was focusing on being in the powerband more (aka. downshifting more) and I was a lot more confident in pushing entry speeds as Icemang will atest (he feels bad for my front tires). LOL This time around I found much much more understeer with my set up. Only thing different was the diffuser. Even the tire pressures were the same. I had to take out 2-3 psi in the front to dial back the understeer. Looks like this may be a sign the diffuser is working? Maybe I need a front splitter now? ![]() App/phone was not cooperating in the later sessions where I feel I was faster but here is a vid from the earlier sessions. 2:12 [ame]http://youtu.be/jQVYjPTfGb4[/ame] _ _ Diffuser - http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30149 Relevant Mods: RCE Yellow springs -1.5 camber front -1.7 camber rear 245/40/17 Hankook RS3's Mach V Awesome 17x9 +42 rims FT86 Factory 11lbs battery kit (20lbs savings) Custom Magnaflow Cat Back (Burlingame Mufflers: Performance and Custom) (10 lbs) Rear Seat Delete (20lbs) Spare Tire + Tools Removal (30lbs) ~80lbs weight reduction 3 FR-S and 1 BRZ at the event. I can't wait to do this!!! How many miles on your car? I was planning on waiting until 7500 miles before I starting tracking mine, but I don't know if I can wait that long.

to help reduce some front understeer try adding a bit more camber in front..might take camber plates.....also try reducing front and-or increasing rear pressure to help the car rotate.......do you know what the front-rear toe settings are? I would guess you are running a "street" style alignment toe settings so probably a little toe in all around.....I would try setting the front toe to zero.....this makes for MUCH faster-stronger turn in.....my racer has this with just a smidge toe in out back.... setting the rear to zero to slightly in also helps the car rotate....
Next time you can pit with me.....I have full alignment tools & can take tire temps to determine exactly how to setup the alignment....I take tire temps everytime I come off track..... |
