But I digress. Blizzak powwwwwwaaa! Man I had no issues. It was funny driving from Arlington to Herndon, watching as the storm got more and more snowy, less and less rainy. Gonna be interesting driving later though. |

seems like every time we may get substantial snow my car is in the shop and I'm stuck in a loaner.
the flavor of the month: vw passat. I will never complain about the outback I usually get EVER again. =( |

I think it depends on which stock tires you have. The bridgestones have 0 traction whatsoever in the snow. Even new, they have a very shallow tread pattern, that turns into slicks once the tiniest bit of snow gets into the gaps. It was a brutal affair last month in Va Beach when we got snow. I was literally sliding sideways at 10 MPH.

I do still remember the first time I drove my STi home in AK. Driving one home from the dealership in the winter was scary! Threw some Hankook Ipike's on and it drove like a champ!

I didn't get to sleep until ~6am. I wasnt expecting to wake up to snow down here, but of course, I did. The weather said it would change over to snow later in the afternoon.
I finally get to use the snow tires I bought for my other car 3 years ago ![]() Sent from my Nexus 4

I will probably only buy summer tires and drive super careful or not at all in the snow. I mean we just dont get enough snow to justify the expense/traction trade off for what maybe 1-3 days of the year being crap (at least in my MA area).
This fake blizzard is what I mean. Buy for price/grip and wear ratio imo. |
