I couldn't see where the control were for lowering the smaller rear windows. Did anyone else locate them?I see the one that control's the top in the center console by the AC charger but that is it.

Can you imagine if they some how engineered this thing to be as balanced as the coupe and still it be a cabriolet like they said in their press study? it would be some sort of break through, and I believe they can do it with the current technology. I mean the rumor was their shooting to make this weigh as much as the auto version. that's ridiculously good.

"GT86 tips the scales at only 1257kg, thanks to comprehensive weight-saving measures, giving the car a power-to-weight ratio of around 160bhp per tonne This is crucial to performance, given the car uses an engine with a relatively small capacity. Engineering the cabriolet to be "weight-neutral" relative to the coupe will be a key area of study should Toyota decided to progress with the project."

It's not even production ready and is a study model so it might not even happen at all, not to mention all the complain about it lacking space. When honestly if you think about it most people who buys a convertible cabriolet style at least only care about if it fits a golf bag and stuff worth a week end trip that's like two duffle bag worth of stuff. Not to mention people who would buy a convertible isn't going to have racing in mind, there's nothing better and safer than the coupe. This is just another option that will help move numbers and likely give more funding to models we want like say I dunno more money to develop that Supra or another version of the 86 cars. either way I can't see them losing much from finding this break through and having more money for other things. Let's not forget the possibility of a Sedan study model to come as well.

honestly this open top isn't marketed for us enthusiast crowd, but for the crowd that wants open top fun you're not gonna find tuning shops buying a convertible to develop their race stuff that's counter productive. You are how ever going to have oh I dunno Californian and Europeans people who love top down stuff already buying it though.

If it came to the States as a full Toyota GT-86 Limited open-top, I'd be hard-pressed to not trade-in my BRZ Limited for it, even as an Alaskan. I'd just reconvert it back to a BRZ! hahaha

I think the convertible is considerably uglier than the coupe. Factor in the added weight and the reduced performance and I'll gladly pass.

Only an extra 13lbs and apparently CoG is BETTER.

Meh, I still don't really like how it looks, but I really don't like convertibles... But still, it is nice to see other options coming out!

Would expect the CoG (which is different than weight distribution) to be better removing the roof since it's pretty high up on the arm. That would happen with just about any convertible since extra weight (stiffening, etc) is going to be down in the chassis I would think.

Good news they retained the weight distribution.

It is growing on me, but still would only buy it if Targa (which would probably move the CoG up, by the way).

After about two weeks of owning my FR-S, my father saw how serious I was about it and asked me "would you ever get rid of it?" Knowing of how much love I had for the Supra, he was aware this car was a keeper, as I was quick to get rid of my previous cars, like the tC and CR-Z, this was forcasted to stay with me forever. Sure there are other cars I dream about and this will certainly not be my last car, but to answer his question, this was my reply:

"Maybe if they released a targa top, that's the only way."

Targas have always been my favorite style of car. It combines the maturity and seriousness of coupe with the "let you stay up one hour longer" privledge of an open top car. Not something that would be ruined in a straight convertible.

Convertibles were never attractive to me, until I saw a 458 spider. This car had pulled off the look and feel of a targa, while still being a convertible. Granted it was a hard top, but the butresses and rear flat glass made the look just right. No back seats, and structure behind your head.

Seeing the ft-86 open concept, I'm dissapointed. I hope at this point, it never get's put into production. If they would make a targa or somehow mimic the look of spider, I'd have to consider the trade.
