I know exactly what you mean. I can't stand all those other jerk-off automatic owners who rice up their cars. Nothing tasteful like mine.

My Car Diary:

November 28, 2012: Got car! My baby <3
November 29, 2012: Lowered 3"
December 1, 2012: Installed undercarriage LEDs
December 2, 2012: Undercarriage LEDs not bright enough. Installed more.
December 5, 2012: Installed giant aero wing.
December 6, 2012: Rear visibility not poor enough. Installed aero wing for my aero wing.
December 10, 2012: Lowered 1"
December 11, 2012: Body kit! Decided it wasn't big enough so I added in my own custom components. Also lowered the car 2" more
December 12, 2012: Filed complaint with undercarriage light manufacturer regarding poor durability of lights when in contact with pavement.
December 15, 2012: Racing stripes!
December 16, 2012: Racing decals!
December 21, 2012: Installed sound system capable of outputting 180 dB
December 22, 2012: Turned it up to 11, 200 dB now!
December 25, 2012: Christmas present to myself - nitrous!
January 3, 2012: Picked up new car from dealership. Managed to recover undercarriage lights from totaled car. My new baby <3

I was thinking about getting a custom exhaust designed to sound like the space shuttle thrusters but unlike those other douchebag AT drivers, I would never rice out my beautiful FR-S like that. I'm just gonna stick with the jet engine exhaust after I finish with the interior laser show.

No need to be a jerk. I was just saying my opinion. I went very far out of my way to say that I didn't think automatic owners are douchebags, but you are tempting me to think the opposite.

That's quite a small sample size you got there.

Also, if you "went very far out of your way" to say that you don't think group X of people are douchebags...

Trying to differentiate myself from a certain someone who keeps claiming some radical things. But you seem to be just as much of a troll as he is, so I don't really know why I cared to explain that.

The whole point of this car is driver involvement and fun, why in the world would you then take a car, designed from the ground up to be as involving as possible and pay MORE to be less involved with it? It just doesn't make sense.
Here is an unexpressed irony for you:

After 40 years of owning and driving nothing but standard shift cars, the FRS is the first car that made me sort of wish I had bought an auto. Seriously. Not a big fan of the gearbox or the gearing.

Regardless, limiting the roads to those that drove only standards would be like limiting the internet to those that could code HTML. Be kinda empty around here eh?

I'm just saying - you're the one who put yourself into the situation of needing to backtrack on all your statements, friend. A little politeness to begin with goes a long way.

I'm not backtracking on anything. I think this car is pointless with an automatic because it was designed purely for fun and driver feel and you aren't able to experience it fully with a slushbox. The point of the thread was if the car is going to be "too common" and then get boring. I'm actually excited to see a lot of people buy these things, but I am going to be disappointed when in a few years a lot of non-enthusiasts buy the car because it is cheap and looks sporty, but they get it with an automatic because they have no interest in driving. I stand by that, and I'm totes cool with all of the automatic owners flaming me.

I don't think people who drive automatic transmissions are fat, lazy, stupid Americans who shouldn't be allowed to drive though. That's a pretty damn ignorant thing to say... And I feel bad that I started that entire thing. Being associated with people like that isn't my goal.

Who cares what other people drive? Does their enjoyment of their car somehow lessen your enjoyment of yours?

(As long as they're not a safety hazard or obnoxiously loud, of course)

haha nope, I don't really care at all - just thinking out loud on the internet, really. I even see a few good reasons why people would want to drive the auto... Mostly inability because of physical injury. I'm just not about that life. People can drive whatever the hell they want though, I'm not stopping them.

Well, hope you don't care enough to be disappointed in a few years then.
