Lamborghini’s top-secret 50th anniversary model is finally out of the bag. Called the Veneno, the supercar first appeared in Britain's Sunday Times before an assortment of car-loving websites, including a Czech auto forum, got hold of more images. Taking its name from the Spanish word for "poison", the Veneno is underpinned by the Aventador's carbon-fiber monocoque chassis. It will cost £3.1 million ($4.5m) and stand as the most powerful production Lamborghini ever.

The Veneno is the latest in a line of motor show surprises, following the Sesto Elemento and one-off Aventador J, and packs 740 horsepower from the Aventador's 6.5-liter V12, which is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed single-clutch transmission. From the fins and scoops to the racing-style wing and angular wheel arches, the carbon-fiber jet-inspired bodywork enhances the car’s aerodynamics for track use, yet remains entirely road legal. 0-62 mph is said to come in at under three seconds with top speed at 220 mph. Only three will be built, and all have been presold.
The grey model in the pictures is a test model and is not for sale. The three production models will be made in green, white or red - the colors of the Italian flag. With the Geneva Motor Show opening its doors this week, you won’t have long to wait for live shots of this brutal supercar as well as more concrete info.

I saw this earlier today on my "stalkerbook" page. My reply was "If it comes in black, Batman and I will take one!"

This design is perhaps the most innovative design I've seen to date! Check out Mazda's Furai...

lambo is a company i have always hated. the kind of brute strength has to be respected and all and its as cool as anything has ever been, but i just tend to prefer things that are a little more precise than lambo seems to be. that being said, its fucking nuts in a way that hasnt really been seen since the enzo and lfa which are both wastes of money.

Yup it's bad-shit crazy and everything that's right with Lamborghini. I prefer how the Ferraris drive but I've had a soft spot for lambo my whole life. I always had a bull on the wall of my childhood bedroom.
