It is GOOD that you are seeing these cars around more often, manual or not. Would you really enjoy the car less if everyone had one? Does it really bother you that someone chooses not to row their own gears? If your answer is Yes to either of those questions, then . You should want to drive it whether yours was the only one, or simply one in a billion

Cars like this need to sell well so manufacturers keep putting out fun cars like the Toyobaru twins. And as fun as they are to drive, it would be a shame if they was only in the hands of few.

Yes, because it would be horrible if they sold a bazillion Toyobarus and gained a huge following for the car with a massive aftermarket. I'm just playing, but it is funny that the Mustang selling as good as it does is seen a bad thing.

I usually try to be polite online, so forgive me, but boo-fucking-hoo. Its a car that many people (myself included) cant afford and we dont want to hear about spoiled cry babies that are not special anymore because their material goods are no longer cool. Grow up, there is an entire world of suffering out there, be thankful for what you have. - end rant

1) Make something unique to your car.
2) Remember that it's not the modifications that make it yours, it's the memories. Grab a friend and go somewhere in it. Make memories. Then it will be unlike all the rest.

I hear ya, and agree somewhat. It's a good thing for Ford's bottom line, and for modding, as the aftermarket will be strong. But it kills the exclusivity. I don't need a 1 of 1 car, but something a little uncommon is good. I prefer a nice happy medium...a cool car with a good following and decent aftermarket, without seeing one at every freakin' stoplight like Mustangs...

This car was never going to be a rare car if it was accepted by the enthusiast community. It's priced between 25K and 30K, below the average sale price of a car these days. When the Miata came out, it was rare at first, now they're everywhere. This car will be the exact same way as long as Toyobaru keeps producing them.

Just remind yourself that the more of them that are out there, the more aftermarket support there will be for your car.

My advice would be to enjoy your car and enjoy the culture. These are excellent cars and (hopefully) people buying them respect what the twins are all about. If they don't, it won't make you care any less about yours.
Nice, one of my favorite quotes....:happy0180:

It's different for me. I had an Evo X before this, I saw maybe 1 other a week. Now with this, I saw 2 today alone. I understand where you're coming from with "everyone has it".

Here's where I think the replies will center:
-"Get the BRZ, you NEVER see those!"
-"It's $27k out the door, what'd you expect!"
-"This car would fail if it was rare"
-"Mod it to make it one of a kind"
and of course "Just wait until they speed up production, then you'll see TONS more!"

Because it somehow diminishes your enjoyment of your car...crimony!?

I guess you don't want other people having access to the driving experience that the twins offer because they can't or won't drive stick...go tell that to the Camaro ZL1 enthusiasts that begged Chevy for an automatic version and got it...

you do realize a sizable number of active users on this forum chose the AT, right?

and frankly it's none of your business why they chose what they chose. Just because you're upset about something or don't agree with something doesn't make your way, the right way.

I'll deposit my $.02.

I've only seen 2 other FR-S since I purchased my car. I get excited when I see someone else driving this car; however, the FR-S wasn't the only new car I considered. I look at the Miata, but I figured I might as well get a used one, as they're commonplace in Florida. I looked at the Camaro/Mustang, but it seemed like everyone and their mother has one. I looked at the Gen Coupe, but I couldn't get over the new grill.

If the Mustang was as rare as it was in say, England, I think it would have been a contender for me, but there's a stigma that goes with certain cars. On Top Gear, they talk about how the M3 was a great car, but they wouldn't own one at the time, because it seemed that the owners were all pricks.

So I wouldn't necessarily be bothered if I saw one of these every day, but I would if they were predominantly owned by irresponsible scumbags.

You realize that some people daily drive their FR-S and live in areas with heavy traffic and like the convenience of having an automatic mode, right?
Personally, I fucked my foot up and never got the surgery I needed, making it painful to drive manual for extended periods of time or in heavy traffic. That's why I got the AT. Does that make me any worse of a driver than you?
I don't see why it's so impossible for some people to drive a manual without being pretentious about it.

To OP: If you enjoy your car, don't worry about how many there are out there. It'll still feel the same to drive it. I wouldn't be surprised at all if 10 years from now there will be as many twins around if not more than Mustangs.
I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing.
My brother has a Mustang and it doesn't bother him one bit that he sees them everywhere. He loves his car and that's all that matters.

If manual vs auto is that big of a deal to you, make it known that you have a manual. Rev match on downshifts. If you are on a slight hill at a stop light, play with it a little, just don't roll back into the car behind you.

(I do it for fun though, not attention. I'm working on the heel and toe movement.)
