First car wash (first time I clayed/polished/waxed a car) - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Got the car on Thursday. Absolutely love the color compared to the black one I had, so I figured I would give this one the best treatment I could. Prior to this I watched videos, read forums, and researched as much as I could.

Thank you for the comments on my clay debacle. Ended up getting my microfiber and using my finger nail (covered finger with it) and scraped away careful not to dig too much into the clear bra. After his experience I will be taping the edged up.

The materials I used were:
AMMO NYC wheel care (soap, spray, and tire shine)
AMMO NYC soap and hydrate (used when drying)
Meguiar's clay bar and used AMMO soap and lubrication
Meguiar's polish (done by hand)

All in all for the first intense wash like this it was actually really fun. Though towards the end of the polish I started to get sloppy so I had to take a break. Believe the whole thing took me 4-5 hours. Hoping to reduce this time in the future.

Not a pro but I would recommend to get it off before it drys. If it gets hard you might end up scratching the paint. Just hit it with some quick detailer or clay lube and wipe off

I just got down washing about to polish, but I did have one question for all the detailers out there. When I was claying the car I went against the clear bra and now I have clay residue. Should I wait for the clay to dry and take it off or is there a secret way to get it off before it drys. We can file this under a beginner mistake and not realizing it would happen.

Pics are to come once I finish polishing and waxing figured I'd ask this question before I got down.

Ive never had a clear bra until this car myself, and i made the same mistake with wax :/ I took a toothpick to it and gently followed the edge.

I'm not exactly sure what the best way to get it off is, but in the future, I'd recommend some painter's tape to cover up the edges. It'll also help a lot when you polish and wax the car.
