Thanks mate, we hope for 50+ on the day, 'other makes' accepted and I have mentioned to a few 86 guys who have been running Lakeside & QR

All I want is to get a 1:08.99, sick of being in the 1:09's!! Last 2 meets have been very hot and humid, car doesn't like that at all! [maybe the 86 wouldn't be affected!!]

NO!! don't give me ideas!!

I havent used the remote yet! Just go up to the car, grab the door handle and she opens. Touch the little dimples and she locks. (Wish the wife was so easy! ;-)

Well... at least I hope she locks by touching the dimples. Not much chance of anyone stealing her though, I keep going out to look at her every 5 minutes. (The car, not the wife) :-)

I did embarass myself at Toyota though. After the first drive with the co-pilot a red light started flashing when I stopped the engine. I hadn't seen the light before and was concerned as hell, so got them to scan it to diagnose the fault.

It was the security light, which only activated once it had seen both sets of keys or something!

Really? My Toyota dealer doesnt want to see mine until 15,000k's or next year. Hmmm.... he also said "Drive it like you stole it." to which their head mechanic agreed. (And they are a good dealership!)

I haven't "driven it like I stole" it exactly, but have done enough with her to prove I can make a good getaway if I need to!

All my years of playing Gran Turismo has taught me, tyres make a big difference. As does weight.
That's the only way I'll have a track car (for now)

For anyone expecting delivery around mid to late march, I just got word that the batch my car is in is on the ship and out at sea, with an ETA in Aus of the 8/3. I'm getting kind of excited haha.

The ship for that batch is called "Durban Highway" if anyone feels like tracking their new pride and joy.

1,000km is a complimentary 'check over' by the Dealer at no cost. You say you got embarrassed, how about me thinking it had done 26km and then Brad says 'that's the outside temperature!!'

Totally! My first track day in the MX5 I ran on 'normal' radials, OK and no dramas, then I added Kumho KU36's and what a difference!! They grip like hell and I have never had it break out at all .. the wear rate is fantastic as well, current have done 6 meets, average laps each meet would be 45-50 and also have done around 8,000km road kms

I'd use them on the 86 if I was tracking it, BUT, get that thought out of my mind!

That's normal, it could well move forward again!! It's all to do with the stuff they do after it comes off the ship, how much time and how many vehicles they have to do

As soon as it comes off the ship tracking will update to 'In storage', that could, if like mine, be around 12 days and then within a couple of hours of it being loaded onto the transporter for delivery to the Dealer, it will move again .. the date is that in which it will arrive there, NOT the date you collect it

If anyone has experienced different please post, just going on how mine 'tracked' [estimated 11/2 and thats the day it arrived at the Dealer, could have picked up 13/2 but waited another day as so not to have the tinter worrying that I was hanging around waiting

PS: I left the windows 12 days before opening them, always done that!

Footnote: On 28/12 my Dealer was able to tell me the car had come off the line on 26/12, so perhaps yours can do the same if it's already finished

Pretty much copying your plan here mate and staying the night in Warnambool as I do not want to drive it home @ night.

Question.... How did you go with driving it on the open road? I have read different things about running it in and how staying at one speed during the first 1000kms is bad for the engine. Interested to hear opinions on this.

Cheers

I drove mine almost 200km back home after picking it up .. 100kph with slight variations from 85-105, one stage noticed I was doing 118, then thru some city traffic, hills etc when it had 100km on the clock - just nice to vary the speed and revs, and I don't use 'cruise control'

Have a fun trip!

I did the piston ring sealing technique:

Do Three 1/2 Throttle dyno runs from
40% - 60% of your engine's max rpm
Let it Cool Down For About 15 Minutes

Do Three 3/4 Throttle dyno runs from
40% - 80% of your engine's max rpm
Let it Cool Down For About 15 Minutes

Do Three Full Throttle dyno runs from
30% - 100% of your engine's max rpm
Let it Cool Down For About 15 Minutes

Find a quiet 100/110 road outside of melbourne so you can use 3rd or 4th.

Then for the first few hundred k's try not to fall back on cruise control and leaving the engine sit at one rpm for too long. Don't be too OCD about it but just drive via foot and change up or down gears every so often.

Do you remember the average time difference between the two tyres / best lap times?

I think you're looking for an excuse to track your 86
