Is it ****ish of me that I think to myself "If you have to ask this and can't research it properly, you shouldn't be buying a turbo kit for a NA motor" ?

I don't think that's ****ish of you to think that...

I'll be honest, I would ask the forum as well - the way he asked it leaves opportunity for discussion. So we discuss as a forum should. I don't think his question has a definitive answer ahead, it's really opinion. I think he wanted to gauge the response of the forum to make a decision on not only the options, but what he feels would be the best from our response(s).

To be more detailed on this inquiry, I would recommend upgrading every area you can and not risk testing the limitations of stock components. Get a strong clutch and a flywheel, some come together in a package.

How hard is it to install? From what I gather, not hard at all - but (a) I've never installed one and (b) I always recommend an experienced Shop do the work. It always costs a few dollars more for them to do it, but they get it done (and if anything breaks, it's not on you )

Note: You're in Long Island - what town? I drive out to LI some times on the wekend. If you want to experience a Turbo FR-S, you can sample mine (if you haven't already experienced one)!

I too was looking at all options and was wondering if any one has had problems with thier clutches or think they have gone the best possible option so I'm keen myself to see the pros and cons that other people have already experienced/nutted out

Allow me to explain why I think this. For starters, clutches don't "Hold HP". They accommodate torque. They have a certain FT/LB of pressure they are rated for. So don't ask if a clutch will handle that 400 HP you want, you need to ask if the clutch can handle the torque that the SPECIFIC kit you are buying produces. Different turbos different superchargers, even different piping can influence how much torque a kit puts out, so you need to be sure you know what you are asking before you try to buy a new clutch to "hold 500 hp"

But I digress. Back on topic, my thoughts on the matter are that there are many different types of clutch kits out there. Some are really grabby, and will handle anything you can throw at them, but they are a real pain to drive around with, because they are so hard to push the pedal. Too grabby and too tight for a DD. Sure they will allow for GOBS of torque, but you don't need a kit that can accommodate 500 FT/LB or torque if your kit makes only 300ft/lbs of torque. Then there is sprung versus unsprung, lightened flywheels, the differences in how weight is distributed on that same flywheel, maintenance, chatter, etc. There is a lot to look at, so I hope you find what you are seeking.

I have ACT street disc and 6 puck sprung with streetlite flywheel kits in stock. We are installing the 6 puck sprung kit with its 345ft lb rating in our car when the turbo goes in. I have always had the best luck with ACT over the past few years.
