OEM Audio Plus BRZ review

Does the one from TRDsparks.com not fit in the BRZ? If we have BeSpoke audio will this kit work the same as shown in the video? Also is it necessary to deaden sound still? The video makes no mention of matting down doors or trunk.

It fits, but is not programmed to match the BRZ's head unit, wiring harnesses may or may not differ as well, not sure on that point.

Yes.

Not necessary, but if you've got the panels out of the trunk/back seat, it can't hurt to do it while you're in there.

For folks who already installed bass in the back and Image Dynamics in the doors, will there be an option to swap tweeters with the stockers without buying the entire kit? What if you guys blow your tweets, im sure there is a part # somewhere.. Thanks!

Since the components of the OEM Audio+ Reference 400 series are all dynamically matched in frequencies and voice coil timing, staging, and imaging for each application, I don't think the company will be very enthusiastic to sell parts and pieces of it... Especially right now when the systems are completely back-ordered and every single piece of the system is very short in supply...
The prototype generation II of the Reference 400 FRS is on the way with mid-range replacements too, and that even has a different DSP timing and staging as well. So it's very specific and the guys at OEM Audio+ are adamant about keeping the systems intact because of the time they spend on perfecting each set.

Any other changes besides the addition of midrange speakers and different DSP timing? I'm assuming owners of the original system would have to ship their DSP amp back to be reprogrammed if they wanted to upgrade?

I hear ya, but still want these tweeters I'm purposely trying to keep all speaker swaps clean without modding mounting locations.

I am not sure, but I'll know more as they come closer to introducing it. Right now they are busy with Japanese version Toyota86 R&D too so they have their hands full

Most likely the DSP programming won't be TOO far from what we have in Version I, and I don't think its absolutely pertinent to get it re-flashed, but eventually they will probably offer such service once the production can catch up to demands and they can cater to customers in a rapid manner. The FRS system popularity has been more than anticipated and they seem to be super busy with demands and production at this time, without lowering quality or materials.

I'm sure when the production of the FRS systems catch up, and their in-house RD for other project calms a bit, they can supply parts for the Reference 400....

I haven't seen the sub in your trunk, but if clean installation/factory look is important to you, it may make sense to sell the sub/amp that you're using and go with the full oem audio kit. i doubt keeping the aftermarket door speakers in will be an issue, but if it is, changing them out is only a 30 minute job.

Checked out trdsparks an hour ago and it was 975. Went back on just now and it's 1,099. WTF

Its just a simple downfiring 10" sealed enclosure from Pioneer mated with a Alpine Monoblock... I made the kit completely removable for any future racing ideas the BRZ luls me into

My ears aren't too picky, but just want a kick of clearer high's from the front.. Not interested in anything more than installing new mid's and tweeters in the front.. Thanks for your comments though guys..

I Agree. The OEM Audio Plus is so dedicated and perfected in acoustic timing, it is much better to have the entire setup to enjoy it to the fullest.

Awesome. The OEM Audio Plus Reference 400 also removes with 2 bolts, and the heaviest parts, the subwoofer/DSP/amp units all come out in one piece and uncoupling two sockets in 5 minutes for track duties.
