also Camp Pendleton huh? I'm 5 minutes south of there in Carlsbad... If you are a good marine (and over 21) you know where Henesseys, the Coyote, and the Boar's Crossing are... I'm pretty sure that their coordinates are taught in basic training.

Ahh gotcha, well dude, I'm sure they appreciate your services more than the rest of us ever could. I was an EMT for many years, if/when you get out, I got a hook up at Pacific Ambulance, if you want to stay in the same field.

No need to get your panties in a bunch people. The dynamic compression ratio is what you need to consider.

It is the brake mean effective pressure and indicated mean effective pressure, and indicator diagrams that are used in practice. Those require cylinder pressure transducers to actually use. |

I was referring to dynamic compression ratio (DCR) because I thought this thread was about boosting the engine. Looking back a few pages, I see that this thread has sort of turned into a discussion of power output and might be the reason behind your post, but I digress. Solely looking at the static compression ratio (SCR) of 12.5:1 isn't the best way of determining if an engine can avoid detonation under boost. It simply is the ratio of cylinder volume at bottom dead center (sweep volume) divided by top dead center. However, this isn't the compression ratio the engine sees when its running. DCR is the compression ratio when you take into consideration the crank's position when the intake valve closes. The piston will already be traveling upwards when the intake valve closes, resulting in a smaller sweep volume. Because of this, DCR is always less than SCR. Simply put, there is less "squeeze" on the mixture, and therefore less heat, and subsequently less risk of detonation. |

Similar... Without the turbo but with some intake plenums and a filter
![]() I'm sure it can't be too hard to convert throttle bodies to dbw. AFAIK dbw is essentially a stepper motor that controls throttle. Making an adaptor for it to hook up to ITB's shouldn't be hard, then you just have to get an ECU to control it (of which IIRC there are quite a few that can control both dbw and ITB's).
