Probably a stupid question but how do you select which lights come on, the ring or the accent? The slider?

I don't think Stage 1 is terribly bright. The accent light is quite subdued.

The real thing people are interested in here is the the two modes vs the total brightness.

You can get a dome light that will blind people from a few places. Getting one that has distinct tasteful modes for door open vs reading light is another thing.
