Just curious about headlights

Ok im lost, i'm reading that the halogen projectors just won't work with HID bulbs cause you get that cheap glare and i dont want to blind people and look cheap. So i'm just curious as to what are good bulbs that'll give me that HID clear slight blueish color instead of the boring old halogen look? Any suggestions??

different vendors has different color. my 1st HID kit (xxx vendor) was 6000k has the pure white with slight blueish. then i change my HID kit (yyy vendor) to a different vendor their 6000k has no blueish color. so i went with 8000k bulb, now same color as my old ones (6000k).

We suggest 6000k if you want to retain visibility and be noticed that you have upgraded HID headlamps. 8000k HID bulbs will give you a slight blue hue (looks cool) but your visibility will be diminished slightly. This is because the higher Kelvin temperature bulbs, the lower the visibility (since you are moving away from white light towards the blue light in the light/colour spectrum.

But i've been reading that HID's have been melting the bulb housing so im scared to go with that. I meant to ask what were good bulbs that weren't HID's but would give the whitish blueish look and a better coverage of the road like an HID would

I highly recommend 6000k. I have it on my firestorm FR-S, it's pretty much pure white and is actually way brighter then I expected it to be. I got my HIDs from precision leds, great people and reply right away.

Philips diamond white. One of the better non-HID bulbs but nearly as expensive as HID kit. Though I have never had just read about before I decided to purchase my morimoto 5000k HID kit from lightwerkz which looks great.

Our 35w HID kits will not create any overheating issues and are therefore safe to use on the FR-S. Some people may have overheating issues or greater risks of overheating if they are running a higher wattage HID kit. We are not saying the 55w HID kits are bad, but they do present more risks and likelihood of overheating as it produces more heat than 35w HID kits.

can you link some threads where people mentioned this? this is the first i'm hearing of it. i agree with the others though, 35W should be chosen over 55W.

HID kit on stock halogen housings are bad because: pencil beams, glare, wrong colors (c'mon, people. 6000k? 8000k? really?), insufficient wiring gauge from the car.

Since I probably don't need to start a new thread just for this question I'll ask it here.

What is the color temperature of the stock HIDs on the BRZ?

I've searched through the manual and googled it and cant find an answer.

Stock HIDs from almost any manufacturer, including Subaru, is approximately 4300k.
