I hope this makes stateside, but the possibility of it making stateside may be slim. If anything, they may make a limited number of them stateside like how the Type R Tegs were limited and had badge numbers. Then it would be a real collectors item and the value wouldn't depreciate as fast.

same. i just want the performance. I'm probably going to keep the exterior looking worn out anyway because people like to fuck with clean looking cars in my area. SLEEPER

Gazoo does A LOT of testing, collecting data etc. at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. They participated in many local races including the famous 24hr race with 2 LF-A's and 1 IS-F. I wouldn't be suprised if Gazoo is going to test the FT-86 on the Nordschleife.. and who knows..maybe we'll see a FT-86 participating in some race events too in the nearby future. After all, the LF-A was already racing back in 2007..that's 2 years prior to 'official' release.

just the car in general.. im finding it hard to put in words but i'll give it a try..

the reason i said "..this car needs to come out" is because of what RWDjunkie said "it doesn't even look like a toyota".. im pretty sure if this didn't look like a baby gtr (which i dont think it does) and just looked completely different everybody would be comparing it to some other car that it "looks like".. my point being with this car coming out, we can go from saying things like "this car looks like a(insert other car)" to saying "thats a Toyota".. just my thoughts

I don't know why Toyota would skip both the LA Auto show and the NAIAS (Detroit auto show press days 01/11/10 - 01/12/10 public 01/16/10 - 01/24/10) just to show the FT-86 at a relatively small tuner show if they weren't planning something special.
I had a feeling this would happen.

I like the agressive look of the side profile on this concept but I can do without the huge park bench rear spoiler. If the G Sport is JDM only I'd be happy if they offered the performance upgrades in the original concept body.

My thoughts exactly! This "G" version removed all of the originality from the front end and fenders. I like the original concept looks much better. However, I am VERY interested in the engine! Give me the concept with the 2.0T!

On the front page, "Furubakettoshito"...
Furu = Full
Baketto = Bucket
Shito = Seat
フルバケットシト = Full Bucket Seats
"Rorugeji" = Roll Cage
"Eboryushonmoderu" = Evolution Model
Don't know if anyone knew this, but that's basically their way of writing English.

(though I would have expected them to spell roll cage as "rorukeji" or "rorukeiji"...

So.. it sounds like these Gazoo guys know their stuff.. if that's true, maybe there's a reason for the crazy design on that park bench sitting on the trunk.
It still doesn't look nice, but if it performs, I'm all for it.
Either way, I'm more interested in the engine, suspension, and lsd (if applicable... if not, that's one ESSENTIAL mod.). Also, the weight. I'm not chopping out the seats and stereo, to drop weight, but it'd be nice for this thing to hit its target weight.

(Oh, sorry for triple posting, if anyone cares. I tend to do that...)

Go right ahead. You're doing a fine job. I think I actually learned something from your posts. Personally, I tend to go on rants when I post.

This car reminds me of the widebody version of the SW20 chassis MR2, the 2000GT. That was a car that Toyota made but wouldn't sell to us. Screw-that-and-I-hope-you-go-out-of-business-if-you-try-that-shit-again, Toyota. And the horse you rode in on.

Toyota, your business is to make cars that we want to buy and then to sell them to us. DO NOT build a widebody version of the FT86 and then only sell a thousand of them only in Japan. DO NOT build a convertible version of the FT86 and only sell a thousand of them only in Japan. If you want to build evolution race models...that's fine. Feel free to go crazy with the carbon fiber and fiberglass. But you should put your effort into getting the model that is going to be on the showroom floor right.

Give us a car that will accept 245's and 275's without fender rolling. Give us a car that's already turbocharged. Give us a car that is mod-friendly, but doesn't require that every little part on the car must be upgraded.

If you don't get it right, we'll just move on to the next hot thing.

High praise. Thank you. I don't often find people who can appreciate many of the things I say and put forth their honest opinions about it, much less people who really learn anything..
(Of course, in those cases, I'm usually on rants about philosophy...)
Anyway, those 275s are really beasts. I expect they'd only be suitable for track use, because first sign of puddles, they'd pull up their pant legs and skip right over them. With a car this light, I expect hydroplaning would be a MAJOR problem with that size of wheels.
I'm all for the factory-turbocharged idea and the easily modable idea. I've actually had the idea for basically this exact car long before I knew anything about this concept. I saw a market for a car that didn't exist and thought to myself, "The first manufacturer who makes this kind of car will strike gold." I found out about it and about shat myself.
