the point is to increase rear traction and stability.

correct....but my point (many moons ago) was on a DD (daily driver) car i didn't see the point. seeing as how most of my experience with a daily drive was stop and go traffic.

They also usually decrease drag (aka better fuel mileage for a dd ) if designed properly. Not saying this one does decrease drag or not because I do not know.

i'm sure a lot of people put on diffuser just for the look of it.

That Borla diffuser looks pretty functional to me ..I hope other aftermarket companies will start making diffusers for their exhausts.

What plucas said. If it is properly designed, on a production car you can increase downforce, decrease drag for a low weight penalty. On a race car, you gain obscene amounts of downforce through ground effects with negligible drag effects.

The problem is you can't tell by looking. We can make assumptions but we have to know how it interacts with the rest of the vehicle to be certain.

I'd be happy if it just fills up that space where the stock muffler used to be and keep mud/debris from splashing up into that area. That's good enough functionality for a DD.

For a DD that spends most of its time on local roads, staying under 45 MPH, I would say a diffuser is unnecessary, even if it may be slightly beneficial. If you do a lot of time on the highway, doing speeds of 60-80 MPH, you may benefit from an increased fuel mileage and it will also give you some more high speed stability.

The borla exhaust is on my short list for a catback, and 80-90% of my driving is at 60mph+ so perhaps it might be an nice addition.. though I'd get some matte black paint, something durable before I would install that thing. That finish is completely the wrong colour...

The finish is a durable silver metallic powdercoat that you can customize as you please...
