Hey, so I'm a little confused about this free ECU thing. Can we change it by ourself on the fly, or do we have to bring it into a shop every time we want to tweak something.

"*LOL stupid little red intake manifold decorative cover."

To me it looks photochopped!

"*The strut-tower brake is now modular and flimsier, not a big welded-in piece like on the Gazoo race car."

Thats b/c Toyota knows this peice will be a popular aftermarket piece, so no sense in making it pretty!

if you use something like Cobb tunning's accesport you basically plug in this little controller that looks like a gameboy and upload new maps to the car. If you do this a stage 1 map will give you like 15WHP in a WRX without doing ANYTHING to the car but thats because of the turbo, an NA motor is harder to get power like this.

look it up on their website.

Oh I think I remember hearing something about this now. I think it was that BMW locked their cars software and that if you bring it into a shop and have them mess with the software you can squeeze more horsepower. Wow so Toyota is giving the car to us unlocked? That's pretty cool.

Wishing the intake manifold itself was red

I sure wish the entire intake manifold was red and not just that dinky cover.

OMG I just looked over cobb tuning's website and the accessport sounds amazing. Being able to change from economy mode to a map that can increase you HP by 10% sounds amazing. Plus you get to track your cars performance.

But it's at least $600 and since we can't really turbo charge this car it might not even be 10% increase HP. I guess this is something for hardcore track people then.

the 2 types of transmissions, are they simply just saying there will be a MT and AT??? i dont get how they are implying 2 different MT ratio sets or anything like that...

With the right tuning map, N/A probably can get close to 5-10% increase in power, but I want responsiveness of throttle and flat torque curve better than hp increase.

I'm sure you can get that for less than retail price from some vendors or by doing group buy. I paid only $250 for Power Commander V for my bike, and the retail price was $350.

Hmm, we should make a specialized forum just for the maps.

Not yet, not until the car is released to the market.

Well yeah that's what I mean, we can have everyone on the forum with one to test out new maps, it can be a huge experiment. Gah I want this car now >_<

There isn't a large space, up to where my eyes could see it's
a 2+2 more that a true 4 seater, I wasn't allowed to take photos.
sigh, why does the rear seat and trunk have to be the best kept secret of the FT86, some of us have kids !!

yes i have seen the manual scans, but the pictures of the rear seat are as bad as a fax
