Android Tablet | ELA UI Pre-Release
ELA Automotive UI 1.1| Designed for Android Tablets
This is the final pre-release version/proof of concept for Android The first downloadable automotive UI designed by car enthusiasts for car enthusiasts Full Video and Demo [ame]http://youtu.be/6E7MKj2xZu0[/ame] The Official Google+ Page for All Current Progress: If you are Dev or supporter who wants to be apart of beta sign up here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/communit...00150881499544 Kickstarter Project to fund all development for Android and Windows CE devices starts 2/22/2013 | This is a private venture, not a corporate effort. IMAGES: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What is ELA? ELA is a downloadable touch screen interface on your Android Device or WinCE Hardware that makes the hardware easier to use while in a moving vehicle. E – Elegant L – Logical A – Adaptive Touch screen systems in cars have become either so difficult to use or don’t have the features needed to keep the current crop of tech drivers happy. Automotive manufacturers don’t have the resources or desire to create open source setups as of yet to make the cars we are driving today updatable or upgradable for the life of the car. The design and concepts of ELA were created by the automotive enthusiasts with a focus on ease of use. The UI (User Interface) is designed to be for the novice or hard core geeks. Why? Because there is so much the android platform can offer for next to no cost. The features that we can add to our vehicles is endless, keeping the tech in the car relevant while not having to spent more on the factory options for NAV etc. that will be out dated in just a year or two. So that was all the details, now the practical.
If you want to get in on the beta downloads please sign up and show interest on the google+ page or if you hate google just comment on the Youtube Video for the project. I am working with developers now to get this finished in the next few months. The more support for the project up front the easier it will be to get additional help this is truly the first Automotive UI designed by enthusiasts, so feel free to puke up all your ideas and what you want to see down the road. This is all privately funded, and want to make it available very cheap. It's about giving people the features they want in their cars without getting stuck with expensive systems that never get updates.

This thing looks amazing. It solves almost every UI issue I have for my N7 install. I am not sure how small business bank loans go, but you could possibly set up a kickstarter to get some interest, money, and visibility for your project. I would definitely chip in.

My goal is to raise about 10k. Probably take years to get it back but nothing ventured nothing gained. I have a tons of donations from the Hyundai side to get things started which helps.

1. By using the Nexus 7 now what are it's limitations without ELA? 2. Is there a D.I.Y for nexus 7? 3. Can we get a D.I.Y overview or installation page? (how-to) 4. I heard using the nexus 7 doesn't allow for optimum sound quality? is this true? 3. This is a great idea! GREAT WORK! I can see this being big. |

Nexus7, Xoom, S3, HTC DNA, Note 2. Basically it should work on whatever modern android device or tablet you choose. ELA is basically a launcher when it comes down to it, designed to make your device easier to use in the car. 2. I have a pseudo DIY for the FRS/BRZ on the forum but it's kind of a pain to be honest. 3. I will work on updating the DIY in the next few weeks. 4. If you are using a pimped out audio system, with high end audio the Nexus won't be your best bet but if you are running the stock speakers a decent head unit your sound will run over aux and with EQ sounds very good.

I don't think I am going to do a kit to be honest unless I can get someone to mass fabricate a dash kit for it. So right now, I am working on a downloadable version so you can install this yourself on whatever device you want.
