I'll gladly trade that last 5% of thrill for much better utility and a coupe body. Drove both the PRHT and the ragtop MX-5 on the highway tops-up and the PRHT was almost as obnoxious at speed as the 'vert in terms of wind/road noise.

Hard to beat top-down motoring in terms of the driving experience. That said, no one who wants a hard-top 2+2 coupe will be buying a Miata (or vice-versa).

Both great cars, but don't really see them as competitors. When the FR-S roadster comes out, that'll be an interesting comparison.

I think the FR-S roadster will gain more weight though. They should've dumped the back seat to offset the new weight instead of making it a cabriolet. It still wouldn't make a fair comparison to the MX5 I believe. And by the time that drops the ND MX5 will be out!

It is interesting to me as I totally agree with article. Both cars are close comparo... one is more practical and one has a very slight fun factor edge. I might buy a cheap/older miata at some point.

Sorry but this does not look like it's from the movie Cars, it looks like a bad ass roadster to me but everyone has their opinion.

^ I agree completely. The new MX-5, especially the Club Edition, has classic lines. The fender bulges makes it look aggressive.

On another note, my only gripe with the twins is the looks. It has very modern lines that will get dated quickly.

The BRZ has the evil grin, it's got that "Ok who wants their ass kicked?" look.

At a glance I see a feminine roadster vs a low slung sports coupe, the twins have a great look. Toyota nailed that.

I doubt it'll get dated quickly. It has the silhouette of a mini Aston Martin/Super GT coupe while the MX5's profile resembles something that is dated already. It looks like a canoe with bulges and a stupid smiley face. Honda got the roadster shape better because the S2000 looks more modern and aggressive in comparison to the MX5.
