To be honest, I really don't know what it can't do! Anytime someone ask can it do this...They always say yes haha.

I'm waiting for e85,racegas??,launch control!!! I hope this is soon!!!

they have already stated they won't allow us to turn off the error for running catless headers.. So I assume this isn't going to do everything that a tune can.

Several questions here…

Map differences... I’m working on a flow chart to help with the map selection process… hopefully I’ll get it done in the next couple of days. It will explain how the maps differ from one another and how to choose the best fit for your specific car. For now, check out Post #4 in the MapsQ Software thread… http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26134

Race gas… you’ll find that with stock compression, race gas isn’t going to get you much. Race gas differs primarily in having a higher octane rating which means you can run a higher compression ratio without detonation issues… if you do you’ll make more power. If, however, you can’t raise the compression it won’t make any more power… and in fact may make a bit much because the octane rating may prevent a complete burn. If you want to try some race fuel, use the appropriate Fuel Out/Timing In Map for your bolt-on configuration and see how it goes… those maps will generally be too aggressive for most cars running pump premium but should work fine with higher octane fuels.

CAI power gains… since we’re not an intake company we don’t make power claims for intake per se. Our goal is optimizing the engine’s AFR with whatever intake system we’re using… which we do when we make maps. If the AFR is optimized, the engine makes maximum power (from a fueling perspective)… regardless of what intake is bolted up. What happens in the real world with IAT’s at full load airflows and dynamic air pressures in and around the engine bay is a different discussion entirely… best left to the intake manufacturers…

Supported intakes… we currently support the Stock intake, All Drop In Filters, AiRaid, Injen, Takeda, and Perrin CAI. All have maps available for the intake alone, the intake and exhaust, and the intake, headers, and exhaust. The FA20 Club CAI should be finished in the next couple of days, then we’re doing the AEM intake. We are waiting for our Vigilant CAI to arrive and after that we’re looking for a GReddy. All are available with 9 different amounts of ignition timing to choose from that cover from low to high octane.

“ECU magic”… the reason the answer is generally yes is because the Unichip will do what’s being asked. There is, once again, a difference between “can” and “will.” Can the Unichip prevent those cat lights, yes; will we offer a capability that violates federal law… uh, no. Within the last six months a major competitor of our paid a 7-figure penalty for disabling emissions systems… million dollar fines may not be a big deal in your world, but they are in ours.

With regard to some of the other things guys are looking for, my daily driver has had launch control and flat foot shifting for the past month, as an example. What we’re evaluating isn’t if it can be done, but how to best turn a “capability” into a reasonably price, user friendly kit. The prebuilt Map downloading most guys are doing doesn’t scratch the surface but the world of custom tuning can get pretty complicated if some thought and care isn’t involved… that’s one of our main focus areas. Things that are rushed often end badly... nobody wants that.

There is a very experienced Unichip tuner who’s decided to get involved with the FT86 that will soon be offering some expanded capabilities.

If I missed a something, sorry.

Cheers

7.79 stock for me. Hope to get unichip installed next weekend. You may want to give virtual dyno a try.

the cat thing is a big deal for me...
i plan to go boost in the future.

why cant you label things as offroad use only like every other manufacturer out there so we have access to it. i plan to keep a cat on the car but it wont be in the header thus i will toss codes.
all my previous vehicles have had a tune that turned off the error codes.

I ran to 60 in 6.7 but 59.1mph in 6.4 stock. I'm waiting to get my USB OBDII reader in (should come in tomorrow) to do another run post-Unichip. The car is definitely quicker. I'm not sure what I can do but I'm guessing maybe a .3 - .4 sec drop to 60.

I'm also running the Injen tune on an AEM intake, so I was hoping the AEM map becomes available soon as I'm sure it will be more optimal. However, the Injen map is working well.

Was that with a launch?
