Don't worry though, the E.O. is retroactive...so anyone that buys before the approval still is covered...as long as the system they purchase is a complete system (4TF218-014L) and not a Tuner Kit (4TF218-114L).
So the 'complete' kits currently offered by independent shops will not be covered I take it as it's really a tuner kit with a tune?

Brian, you mentioned earlier in the thread that some other superchargers offered my Vortech have the same gear chamber size, or something to the effect. Will the other V3 SC's fit as a direct replacement with this kit?

The Vortech site lists 725hp for the V3SCi, with a max speed of 53000 rpm, and a flow rate of 1050 cfm. How does the V-3 H67BC compare to these numbers?

Very excited about this now

That sounds like it'd pose some problems with smog places though... From what I read most places don't pass you unless the part has a carb stamp... Would I just have to show them some sort of paperwork saying its carb legal?

Either way, very exciting for us Cali guys.

Excluding that, where peak power is made at 7900 rpm (or thereabouts), if there are no other modifications to the engine then I'll agree that dyno chart does look nice. If not exceeding factory fuelcut/redline that looks closer to 230-233whp. Still, quite nice.

The guys over at Drifting.com made this cool video from the installation of our supercharger kit onto Robert from StayCrushing's Rocket Bunny FR-S at Jordan Innovations. They did a pretty excellent job, and Jeff Jordan does a wonderful job of narration. They made this 9 minute edited version, and they also have a full coverage, hour long version as well.

Take a few minutes to check it out, and jump over to Drifting.com also...they have lots of cool videos they have done.

Many aftermarket manufacturers provide you with a CARB sticker with your purchase, instead of actually having the E.O. stamped onto the part. For example, a smog legal cam, or a smog legal set of headers might be pretty difficult to see a stamp on the actual part...so they give you a sticker instead. Granted, having the stamp on the blower is one way to show it, but for all the guys that will be granted the CARB E.O. retroactively, the sticker works just as well. I've gone in to a smog referee with the Smog paperwork printed right off the Air Resources Board website and no sticker and no stamp before and they still take it. Most places just want to know that the part has an E.O. that they can look up in their system and they are fine. For sure there are places that are going to hassle you without a stamp, but just ask those kind of questions right when you walk in, before the testing procedure. "I have a smog legal supercharging system on the car. It does not have a stamp on the compressor, but I do have a CARB E.O. sticker for it under the hood. Is that OK?" Their response will tell you if the place is going to test you legit or give you a headache about it.

There is always the option to send in your compressor after we get the CARB E.O. for it, and we can make you a new serial tag. The only problem with that is taking the blower off and being down for a few days...but we do offer that as an optional service.

I had the pleasure to see StayCrushings FR-S yesterday at KSport and I have to say the Vortech kit is super clean looking under the hood. It blends in quite well and the fit/finish looks to be well done. The airbox that I see a lot of people disliking actually looks pretty factory in all honesty (Good IMO).

Something I did notice was that the charge pipe post intercooler and pre throttle body is the same diameter throughout on his. From all the pics I had seen of the Vortech it appears that there is a sort of tapered charge pipe up top leading into the throttle body. Is this not the case on the production kit? I am curious because I sorta liked the idea and the looks of it.

I believe that was their pre-production kit and that PERRIN found out in testing that it was causing weird MAF readings. I don't know the full details however...

Thanks much for the advice. Glad there's a good legal option for those of us who live in the wonderful state of California.
