nope not legal... there is no contingent for it..so if it doesn't mention/say it in the rules, its not legal
On another note.. Steering rack bushing Rule: Quote:

yes.. right now the BRZ/FRS is NOT classed in SP..don't know if its even been addressed yet.. I know of no letters to the SEB concerning a Street Prepared class for the twins..With that said.. yes.. you can do in SP..just don't know which SP its going to.
Sorry Bill

Well that answers my question. I don't think we're going to have any discussions about interpretation of the rules in regards to the TiC bushings. Seems pretty cut and dry. Thanks.

I'm curious what you guys think is a good setup for aftermarket wheel and tire sizes.

I personally would do 17x9 ET42-45 assuming you have coilovers for the clearance with 245/40/17.

Unfortunately I can't really drop the car because it still has to deal with the winters around here. I was thinking about 17x8 or 18x8. Are there any benefits of going to a 9 inch wheel on a car with stock power?

9" is a much better fit for a 245 than an 8" is all. Also fitting a 245 is going to be harder with a 8" and clearing the stock strut arrangement with any amount of negtiave camber and not poking. Been there, done that. I would get a 17x8 ET42 or so and run a 225/45/17 instead.

Yeah I've got to figure out what I can fit down there with wheels before I start thinking about tire sizing. Thanks for the advice!

Find friends with WRX's, test their wheels/tires.

And the benefit is more grip with a better fit for the wider tires. If it were allowed in STX, I'd probably go to a 17x10 running 265 or 275 width tires. It would get me closer to the tire-to-weight ratio I used to have in my Miata. |

Hello everyone, new to the FR-S/BRZ world but definitely not new to autocross. I will be co-driving a 2013 BRZ in STX this season sponsored & put togther by well known Bay Area BMW/Mini tuning shop Edge Motorworks. I thought I would introduce myself here on this thread rather than starting a new one, this looks to be an excellent source for STX set-up questions, & should be a great place for everyone to share their results & trials/errors throughout the year.
I'm a 20+ year autocrosser, a lot of that time behind the wheel of numerous Miatas, but after 2 events in an RTR-prepped FR-S I am VERY impressed with these cars! Last weekend I had times fast enough to win our local STX class (National Championship BMW is in my region!) in a stock FR-S on Dunlop ZIIs Needless to say these cars have great potential in STX & it should be a great season! Our plan is to build & develop the car primarily for National Level STX events, but we will also be conducting some track testing as well to possibly run NASA Time Trials with the car. I feel the BRZ could be one of those rare cars that could be competitive in both arenas with a similar set-up I'm very excited at the opurtunity to drive the BRZ this year, hopefully I can help the FRS/BRZ community by sharing about our experiences as we go along. First up on the schedule for us is some baseline laps around either Sears Point Raceway or Thunderhill while the car is completely stock. Then we will do most of the STX build in one day at the Edge Motorworks facilities at the beginning of March. Then, the first autocross for the car is scheduled for March 10th, followed by a track day at Sears Point the following weekend, then another autocross so we can test for the upcoming Southern CA National events. Thanks for reading, I look forward to helping where I can & meeting some of you this year!
