Nice job on the diagram Kostamojen! All the subie guys must be busy.

That is a cool diagram.

From the pic of a complete ej25 on a pallet with a weight figure, I would guess around <260lbs for a FA20. Just a tad heavier than any all aluminum inline 2.0L 4 banger but a smidge lighter than an EJ25.

My bad.
I had a response to your earlier post but I lost it. Be careful comparing weight figures for different countries, curb weight is measured differently. For example the US curb weights are with all fluids and a full tank, Germany use 90% of a full tank, a passenger, and a certain amount of luggage. I am guessing from a brief mention that JDM curb weights are at a half tank with all fluids. But .

FYI, I am pretty sure the Miata and RX-8 are closer to 52:48 and 53:47 respectively. The 50:50 is just advertising suggestion not fact.

And Toyota/Subaru advertised one of the lowest CoG in a production car. 18.1" is among the lowest for wet sump right?

Boosting is like a drug to me. I'm hooked lol. Anyway if it's fun to drive, imagine how fun it will be to drive with a turbocharger in the engine bay. With the high C.R. it's going to be kind of hard to boost this baby safely.
Yeah. I really hope the chassis, diff and gearbox is capable of comfortably supporting power in the 350hp region.

I wouldn't worry about the suspension stroke. The control arm actually will dictate the suspension stroke more than the struts because it has that flat control arm with a bushing like the 05+ Legacy's and 08+ Imprezas. It can only move X amount before it won't move, but it should be plenty:

Chassis should be fine, the diff I'm concerned about... Hopefully its an R180 or R200 not an R160

And I hope it uses beefy CV's too.

I'm sure we have all seen "front-mid-engne" cars with the engine placed fully aft of the front axle. I think I was hoping to see this on the FT-86.
My 350Z is front-mid-engine...and the engine is not complete aft of the front axle. It looks just like what is gonna be like in the FRS\BRZ.

Here are some new scans from training manual, discussing technologies and design goals/concepts for the FR-S BRZ FT-86.

Nothing new, but the more materials the better

Thanks Hachi! Appreciate it like always, I'm just confused as to the claim on the first page being "the world's first frameless sports mirror which improves forward visibility"... what does that even mean O.o

Frameless rear view mirror so that you can see backwards more easily? Small frame on the front windshield so that you can see more?

I just realized the FRS is exactly the size of a 370Z in length but the FR-S is a 2+2 and has a lower center of gravity! How did they do that? Oh yeah the awesome flat four...

Things I noticed:

Swaybar and front control arms are opposite orientation from an Impreza/Legacy/Forester.

Aluminum front control arms (STI)

Rear diff is...???

Rear muffler similar to current Impreza/WRX/STI, maybe compatible?

Killer. Love me some powertrain and suspension photos. I'm excited to read that the steering wheel is "Toyota's smallest", along with seats that emphasize support & fitment. Excellent.

The exhaust looks to have the usual Subaru cross-over/asymmetrical setup. [YES!] It also looks to snake around the steering, pass under the drive shaft, and wiggle around the rear pig. It doesn't look restrictive, per se, just complicated.

Also, I see the anti-roll bars for the first time.

what do you guys think the ground clearance will be? 5.5 inches like a second-gen Toyota MR2?

Hm... if you look at the interior shot that was in some other threads it does look like the rear view mirror has a very thin frame. Seems like a stretch to say that it improves forward visibility but maybe that's what they're talking about.
