Nah, that was purchased buy someone else. I was too late.

I purchased a 4 door sedan locally.

170k miles for 2,800. Very little rust (good for a Minnesota car).

So, the Porsche 'build your car' thing has a dizzying amount of options. I don't think I've ever successfully finished building a car on their site.

I've had that happen. It's annoying.

That's doesn't sound bad at all, even with that mileage. It'll probably go 250k-300k if you take care of it. You might not be as impressed with the fuel economy of the LX. The DX is the most efficient trim if my memory serves me right. Not really into Honda's but I recall some hypermiling discussions about the lean burn era Hondas.

You're thinking of the 92-95 EG Civic VX with the lean burn engines. They're impossible to find and sellers ask for a premium for them.

The 96-00 DX and LX models have the same motor. The DX is just slightly lighter due to fewer options. The EX and SI models have less efficient motors.

So far I purchased some Energy Suspension transmission bushings since the OEM ones feel destroyed. The shifter is very loose even when it's in gear.

Toyota is pushing out 3 sports cars; the 86, the Supra and something else. The Supra is coming out in 2017, so i wonder when the other car is coming out(?)

Blerghhhh.

Was going to buy a Porsche 942 N/A project car.

Found out shipping it here will make it un-worth it. Also partner in crime doesn't show enough interest.

Maybe will just get a used Saab...

Besides the shift bushing any other add-ons to make it more driveable? If I wanted to build a daily driver I'd put in the nicest stereo possible, sound-deaden every panel, and replace the brakes. This besides normal older car maintenance, like new spark plugs, new wires, new air filter if needed, possibly new oil. At this point I feel like every honda from that age and before has been in the hands of at least one high schooler and knowing how I drive....hehe

My driving music playlist is HUGE usually and has all sorts of music, it's almost like having my own radio station...although now that I have HD radio I've been enjoying Kansas City's awesome radio stations more.

I would not say that the handling is appreciably different. I suspect that you’ve been unduly influenced by the prevailing thoughts about RWD -- “It’s dangerous. You’ll shoot your eye out!”

This is utter nonsense.

Is there a big difference between your Schwinn Cruiser bicycle and a $9000 pro racing bike? Not really. They’re both bicycles, they’re both subject to the same laws of physics, essentially handle the same, ride on rubber tires gripping the road, and basically they both “ride like bicycles.”

If you can ride the Schwinn bicycle, you can ride the pro racing bike.

FWD vs. RWD? They have the same rubber wheels and they both “drive like cars.”

Put your grandma in a RWD car and it’s unlikely she’d ever notice the difference. In fact, she probably grew up with RWD, and until her later years had never heard of FWD, not in the USA.

The only real difference of any consequence between the two is what happens when you apply too much power, use too much throttle.

You need only remember a few simple things: Your throttle is not a binary device, not an ON/OFF switch. Perhaps think of it as the control on a stereo amplifier; it’s a rheostat, smoothly turning up and down over a wide range of movement affecting the sound output. Your throttle is like that.

Unless you’re charging into turns way too fast, and flooring the throttle mid-corner, you’re unlikely to notice a lot of difference between your FWD vs. a RWD car.

You’re not going to “shoot your eye out.”

If RWD cars actually posed the threat to life and limb that today’s young folks imagine, then you guys would never have been born -- your ancestors would all have died in horrible, fiery, automobile crashes. Back then RWD was basically the only thing around.

Consider this: Take a front engine, FWD Honda Prelude, and a front engine, RWD FR-S, and zoom them both down into a corner at a speed that is too fast to negotiate the corner. Now, put them each into neutral (no power to the drive wheels), and try to drive each of them through the corner. They'll probably both behave the same and fly off the road the same.

See? Now isn't that reassuring?

Think: Throttle Control. You want to be smooth, gentle, and progressive.

Use TOO much throttle while cornering in your FWD car and the front end slides out from under you. Do the same in a RWD and the rear end slides out from under you.

It’s nothing to fear. It certainly is to be respected, though.

It’s a challenge to master driving well, FWD or RWD, and it’s immensely rewarding to get it right.

Quote:
If I go into every turn with the frs thinking its like my current car Im going to have some problems lol.
Nah, unlikely. I doubt you’re going that fast. You could push it until you fly off the road backwards in your RWD car, but that doesn’t hurt any more than flying off the road frontwards in the same circumstances in a FWD car. Either crash could kill you.

Almost every crash I read about on the ‘Net, usually youngsters at the wheel, was the result of “inappropriate” throttle application, and often in the wet or other slippery conditions. Poor judgment was the root cause of the crash, not RWD.

RWD can bite, yes, but it won’t if you do not do anything unskilled and foolish. Yet, the same holds true of FWD, too, don’t you think?

...

So, you still have to learn to drive a manual gearbox car, then?

...

I went back and read some of your previous posts and I see that your purchase involves more than, involves bigger issues than, merely which car to buy.

I've seen the XV Crosstek in the wild in 3 different colors and I like it a lot. I wonder what people on the forum think about it so far.
