thanks! anyone locally know how long the whole procedure took??? I got a 3 day weekend but i would definitely need my car back by tuesday.

ALSO, do the crickets actually affect anything i.e do any damage to the car itself if unfixed??

I heard somebody is going to Jay to get their optiguard done. You really need to consider letting Jay do a good polish before the optiguard is applied. The finish has to be perfect before you opticoat\optiguard. If you have waterspots or other imperfections in your paint, they will be there forever unless you get this stuff polished out. Believe me I know. I will let you know that Jay and I found some waterspots on the hood after the fact and today he polished them out and reapplied the opticoat on the hood. As you know my car had mad waterspots when it was delivered. Jay polished them out.

Get the Polish before you get the optiguard.

I also got the clear film done on the front bumper today and some clear film done on sections behind the rear wheels on the rear bumper, so I wont get rock chip damage and I don't need mud guards! Oh and Jay also used this new stuff for the windows. Not sure what its called.

Jay did an awesome job!

Oh and get the polish before you get the optiguard. No paint it perfect!

Film applied to rear bumper...forget mudflaps...this is the way to go and way cheaper.

Even if you do replace it.. its just going to come back. Might as well get used to it.

As stated above it's going to come back even if you get it replaced. I got mine replaced and about two months later I got the crickets again. It's not any quieter than it was before if anything it might have gotten a bit louder. If you plan on doing it anyway when I went to the dealer which was universal toyota they had my car for a few hours to verify the cricket noise before they ordered the part but after that I got my car back until the part came in. Once they had the part in I dropped my car off in the morning and it was done by the afternoon so if anything you shouldn't be without your car for more than a few hours.

I wouldn't worry about the chirp. It's not going to hurt anything and it will come back even with the pump replaced, and after seeing pics of the 1 or 2 86's that have caught fire after getting the pump replaced, I'll pass.

FYI: my car just stopped chirping (started at 1,500 miles) at 16,000 miles.

I might ask Jay about doing the section in front of the rear wheels. Thanks for the tip.
