I guess I'm lucky. I paid $24,455.00 including freight plus tax and tags and a $99.00 processing fee. 1.49% for 60 mos. Zero options or BS.

I paid similar.

26k base price and 1k-ish in taxes and other dealership induced fees. I used the 1k recent college grad rebate. trade in value was 3000 and i owed 7000. offered 28900 before the extended warranties and gap coverage. total was 31k out the door with 3.29% financing but the car will be paid in three years. i financed for 6.5 years since there was no change in apr or penalties for paying early or transfer of loan.

Im guessing the car was about 25800 with fees+tax with options including mud guards, tint, hood portion of clear bra, and trunk mat.

Haha. You should see our mortgage rates right now. It's all about putting a good downpayment to keep your monthly costs lower and to keep from being upside down in the case something happens to the car. If you can't put the standard ~20% down, then save up until you can.

Let me get this straight. You bought the car for 25,637 and then gave them $3000 for a down payment that they didn't subtract from the sale price, but instead ADDED it to the sale price and then taxed you for it on top of it all?

Did you even look at the numbers before you signed? WTF?! You do realize the whole point of a down payment is to subtract it from the price of the car? How did you not notice this error?
.
.
.
Or are you trying to say that the $31,065 is the total cost you will be paying after your loan has been paid off? That would make more sense. When people are speaking of the lower price, it's a cash price without the added financing fees or they actually paid cash.

The reason people use the lower number is because the larger one is irrelevant when there are so many different APR's and the loan length varies. We could both get the car for a $27k cash price, but if one of us financed it would be much more obviously, so you don't mention that number.

never signed anything calm your tits man . i thought i was getting doped. didnt buy my car yet. tryna find a good price. like i said i was tryna find if i was correct to turn it down. it was my first time buying and i saw that he didnt take anything off. he deducted 3k from 25+ so it was 22 but then there was tax which was 2k+ then my payment for a month would be 389/72mont so in total id be paying 28+ plus 3k = 31k+ and i thought wtf??? that fuckin 3k didnt do shit so i was WTF and didnt get it cause i need to consult more people abouot buying from dealers. thanks for the reply. and yeah the second one you said is correct so im guessing it was a fair price. if i did get it id pay msrp. with out any added tax and stuff. remember my first time buying from dealer and i was told that dealers try and have hidden fees to make you pay more. had 4 cars before 3 rx7s and 1 240sx but all private

What's your interest rate? $31k isn't unreasonable over 6 years for a ~27-29k (in CA after taxes) if you've got a high interest rate, also have to look at warranties or add ons that you haven't mentioned but may or may not be included.

There's plenty of car payment calculators where you can put in the total "cost", how much you put down and an interest rate that will tell you how much your monthly will be and how much extra you will be paying in interest.

I just bought my FR-S for $500 below MSRP but they wouldn't negotiate any more. This is why; they have to sell at the advertised price for the "Scion Pure Price" BS, and they could loose their dealership contract if they don't obey. The car I bought was advertised on the website, and marked on the car, as $500 below MSRP. This, as I understand, is the only way you can buy a Scion for anything other than sticker price.
So my advice is get on the internet and check out the dealer websites for deals. As others have stated, the dealer options may be fair game.

3.64% is the interest rate or apr and add ons are just the whiteout paint. ok calculated it. this is from my opinion what should of happened from 25,XXX ca new car tax comes to 2k+ makes the car 27-28. so if i gave a down payment of 3k itll be 24,xxx so i should be paying 24k+ then i added the interest rate now which let say 3.64. so from 24k x .0364 = 873.6 so i should be paying 24,873.6 but im guessing dealership needs to make a little money so theyd probly charge fees as in stock fees or whatsoever as in them selling me probly on 1k or so is what i thought. but instead im guessing they charged me 3-4k (where did this come from) for their services? correct me if im wrong. is this right? over all id be paying 31k over all for a car that is worth 27-28k with ca taxies and documentation! so if i did go with the terms of the dealer id be paying in 28k/72 (3k deducted from 31k) months but i gave a down payment of 3k so over all itd be 31k for the car. and paying 28k/72 and not 25k+with in 72months. cause i gave a downpayment and should of deduce the fees fro 27-28. im just wondering how the fuck did i get 3k extra to pay off?!?!?

is this right? over all id be paying 31k over all for a car that is worth 27-28k with ca taxies and documentation!
How old are you? Do you understand how financing works?

(The wiki article I linked was crap, I'll see if I can find a better one later tonight and if not I'll write my own. Anyone else feel free to chime in with a helpful link, most articles are just going into pro's and con's and what to watch out for instead of describing the mechanisms of finance.)
http://www.carpaymentcalculator.net/
I punched in $28,000 vehicle price (the total cost of the car, taxes, title, registration, dealer fees, basically what you would pay cash for the vehicle)
3.64% interest, $3,000 down payment, 72 month loan repayment, $0 trade in, and came out with a monthly payment of $387 which means that when you finally owned the car (making minimum payments over the entire 6 years) you would have paid $30,866.88 for this car.

The dealer may or may not have overcharged you, I didn't see the contract I don't know, please don't post it here, do some google searching and extensive reading and researching to become an informed buyer.

Based on what you posted, I don't think the dealer was doing anything overly shady.

MSRP. and literally just MSRP unless there is a promotion (like the college grad one I used back in december), then less than MSRP. My dealer tried to stick it to me with a mandatory 900 dollar security system addon they "couldn't" take off until I started to walk away so watch out for those.

Penske SCION of Rancho Santa Margarita (RSM) btw.
