The whole 'new car' thing, not having to have a separate car as a daily (although I still do LOL) and improving my credit rating with the loan were just a couple of advantages

Focus ST, Civic SI, Mustang, Camaro (in that order).
However, I secretly want the Abarth but it's just too small.

I was looking at a 2010 or so Audi S4, 2012 G37 Coupe, 2010 E350, 2010 Corvette C6. I kinda regret not getting the C6...The brz is way to slow...only reason I got it over the C6 was because the C6 was my sisters boyfriends and was a base with no nav. I wanted nav...stupid of me because the brz nav sucks anyways.

Here's what else I looked into and the main reason why I decided against them (aside from liking the FR-S more of course!).
370Z (price) Genesis Coupe (heavy, confidence in Hyundai) BMW 1 Series (price) Those were the only other new cars around a similar price range. I really like the 370 and the BMW, but I couldn't pay more for those cars when I am probably happier with the FR-S for cheaper. The fact that the FR-S was so unknown was very attractive to me too. My first desire when considering new cars was a used Audi A5, but I took the more practical and (hopefully) more reliable option in the FR-S.

Was going to either get a big turbo for my chaser or switch to a bmw 1 series or evo/sti. Porsche are stupid expensive here so there was no option of that. So glad I went with the 86.

i had narrowed my choices down to either the new passat or a vw gli. I had inquired with hyundai, vw, and scion through the internet and the 1st dealer to call me was from scion. I talked to him on a monday and the dude had the car i wanted shipped in and ready by saturday.
In hindsight though, I wish I would've shopped around though. I'm sure if I'd waited just a bit longer I could've/should've gotten a gli and my payment would've been like 150-200 cheaper and also been a bit more practical space wise. But at the same time, i'm a 27 yr old male and I wanted the hottest car I could possibly afford, lol. I gave up chase on the hyundai once it sank in that the interior was shittier than the fr-s and the front end looked like a 7 yr olds fast and furious drawing. really though, I might try and trade mine in when the new gti/gli rolls out, if I can get a lower payment of course. |

I actually was waiting to look at a couple upcoming future models, but was sold on the twins due to price and the rave reviews it was getting. Here is my list in from more desired to less.
1) BMW 2 series (F22) - Very little information available, but loved the 1M (would have been a great car if it was sold with decent allocations and dealer mark ups didn't exist) 2) BMW m3/m4 (F80/F82) - Very little information available, but was hoping they fixed some issues I had with the E90 M3 (MPG, weight, etc...) 3) Porsche Cayman S - Very hard to find a lightly used one at a decent price and really desired back seats for the kids, but this is the one car that would have made me consider a 2-seater. 4) BMW 3/4 series (F30/F32) - Great all around car, but the F32 reveal showed BMW is really taking the 3/4 series in a different direction. Larger and heavier than the sedan version is not what I wanted to hear at the reveal. Made me glad I went with the twins. Obviously, all the choices above were significantly more expensive than the twins and that was the biggest selling point to me. I was sacrificing power/luxury for light weight/fun and paying less than half of my other choices. |

I looked at a Lexus IS-F, but too pricey
Then a 370Z when they just came out, but also was a bit overpriced in my mind. Then almost bought a 350Z but the guy wouldn't want to budge on the price. Wanted me to pay for his deposit. Then I really loved the Honda S2000. Looked for one for over a year but couldn't get one in a good condition for a decent price and without a red dash. I'm glad I waited I've never been happier. |

128i
I spent months researching the BMW 1 series (drove some 3s but they were all too big for me) and after all the HPFP problems with the 135i i decided on a 128. Had a lot of trouble tracking down a used one with a manual and while I was searching I took a quick trip over to a Toyota dealership to test drive the FRS. By the time I had taken the first turn off the lot I knew I'd be buying one. Placed an order that day.
