Really...sounds like these HFC/Test pipes might be under spec after all.

I wonder how much we are loosing with that leak?

Do you feel any difference between stock and HFC?

Don't feel bad bro, I spend 60 bucks on a new donut, springs, nuts and bolts because I wanted to eliminate all possibilities of a faulty part on my end.

I laughed so hard at the person being dragged by the dog at 0:14. (In the doors reflection)
Sorry, carry on.

You still have the leak with the new donut? I wish Motiv Concepts would join in to see it they have had this problem before. Seems to be isolated to their front pipes. Also because the leak is after the cats I don't think there will be any power loss.

That is an important question to answer bc I was thinking of replacing mine... I felt like there was a slight bump after though the dripping issue is definitely masking my excitement

Yep. Sill have a leak, I tried using old and new donut. Replacing bolts, nuts, spings. Backing bolts off tightening them down. Etc

I talked to jason at motiv. Hes sick and wont be around till monday.

Honestly, I havent felt any gains. I know its just a overpipe, hfc mod. But if I'm loosing back pressure Im sure I'll loose, not gain.

I talked to jason a few days ago. I was the first to report a problem, I guess.

Motiv Concepts chiming in here!

I would have jumped on this thread a lot sooner, but I've been sick with the flu.

Couple things - this is the first time anyone has ever brought up that our pipes leak. I already told one customer that I would issue out a full refund if he's not happy, because we stand behind our product. Obviously we aren't going to point fingers at anyone blaming installation error when we can't see it up close and personal. We also have no problem admitting fault if this is indeed our fault, but without getting the pipe back first to inspect we don't know.

Jacob - I also recall that when your pipe was installed, the shop didn't use the factory spring bolts, instead they used the bolts we supplied. There's a good chance that using those bolts overtightened the donut gasket and damaged it. Pictures would help a lot in your case Jacob, but I do remember you telling me that your product wasn't installed properly and not using the factory spring bolts to connect the front pipe to your mid pipe can certainly damage the gasket and cause it not to seal properly.

Again, we have no problems issuing out refunds if you guys aren't happy with the product. We'd love to get it back and see if it was something on our end - but we have shipped out over 100 high flow cats/test pipes and this is the first time we've ever heard of an issue.

I have the same problem with the test pipe. Have tried several times to reconnect it with different torque settings but still getting drops of moisture leaking out. I hope this problem can be figured out. I wouldn't want a refund because it is a well designed product and produces (to me) the perfect exhaust sound for the BRZ.

I like the part and not looking to return it just fix the issue. I also didn't see anything in the directions suggesting a certain bolt tightness so you may want to add that. Your directions just say tighten and enjoy but to be honest I did really like the directions, I thought they were very clear for the most part and great pictures. I also used a professional technician as suggested so I just got screwed. I'm not trying to attack your product I'm just concerned for my vehicle. Like I said before I just want to fix it so would you suggest gasket material?

Nah, I haven't gotten around to trying the gasket material fix. My work hours are pretty unforgiving and I won't be able to get under the car again till Wednesday.

Thank for you the Link Beyer.

Jason, Hope you're feeling better, that flu is a bastard.

Did you see the video? I know its pretty raw, but it presents the problem area.

As for an install, this stuff is pretty simple. It only goes on one way and if you follow the directions, like I did its no big deal. Yeah sure, it should have torque specs for the stupid donut gasket connection, but if a guy takes his new parts in to a muffler shop and pays a "pro" to do the install and we still have a problem, something just MIGHT be wrong with the design.

Also another HUGE question is, with this leak are we LOOSING power? I would think we are. Back pressure etc...

I kinda look at things this way;

I've already spent money on the after market product,is messing around with it really worth my time? For a maybe?

Anyway, I'm not attacking you guys either, like these guys with the same issue, I'm just concerned for my car.
