Growing up in rural MS (nearest town population 15k) in the 70s/80s, NObody needed a truck that enormous or that sat that high.
Given that 90% of these will never turn a tire off-road, it's perfectly ridiculous for full-size trucks these days to be so fricking HIGH. Particularly when the diff is still just 8" off the ground. Small pic, but note size/height of full-sized truck vs. human. What is so much *better* about having a hoodline that's at your shoulders, and a bed that's higher than your waist?Need to tow something big/heavy? OK, you need a relatively massive truck to do it with. But again, what's the benefit of the ridiculous height? |

Yes, I could get out with a shovel and pile dirt on one side to lift my diff over the rock (and carry a repair kit in case I didn't), or I could buy a truck with more clearance. But seriously, this is an argument over preference. There is no winning argument. |

Looks nice! My buddy has the current gen Tundra and we took a road trip up to the Bay Area in that thing.
It's a nice and super comfy full size truck but it would complete overkill to own one. My Tacoma is more than enough truck for me.

God trucks are ridiculous these days. Where is my 80s Toyota "Truck"? Ford Ranger? You know, something where I don't need a front loader to put crap in the back? Something I don't mind using for doing dump runs, home depot runs and helping people move (see front loader comment)? I don't need to haul a space shuttle while sitting in my leather captains chair. Why isn't there a small truck with a small 4 banger diesel?

They should update the Tacoma also. Extremely outdated design that needs a change. I would like to see a normal size truck get some attention from the market.

Hey, I was being lazy one day and just watching TV. Then this guy appears and tells me to go ask any Toyota Tacoma owner this question. Does it (Tacoma) have any limits? Apparently it doesn't have any.

Damn this brings back memories and looks very similar to my old truck! Quote:

Also on the double cab short bed, the back wheel of a moto would sit on the tailgate. Mine has bowed in the middle and I'm sure one of these days, it'll give out and it won't be pretty. Here is an example since I have the same exact truck but no KTM.

![]() i agree we do need the smaller trucks to come back. honestly i figure a scion would be perfect for this role. a cheap compact truck that could be used for basic needs. Scion xE?, scion xT? Scion SC-T(sport compact truck) it could work.
