I stopped by the dyno today and snapped a pic of the exact same dyno chart with SAE and 0 Correction factor for those that were curious.

It's just frustrating when people assume that TC systems automatically have this "overwhelming" turbo lag built in and only by using very tiny turbos is it possible to have a car that has boost on demand. Of course i have no SC FRS/BRZ's around me that i can compare for the sake of giving a truly accurate idea of what the differences might be in power delivery. That being said, what you will find with pretty much any of these kits are turbo's that are well matched to the application. These kits have really good boost response, maybe not as good as all motor would be but damn near.

Turbo design is not really something that manufacturers have really changed for years and years, the real changes come in efficiency of the turbo as applied to a certain car or build. Today turbo kit manufacturers all have similar goals to produce power in large quantities, but they also try to make kit's that are useful to people like me who DD their cars. I am sure there will be kits in the making that will strap huge turbos to this car to make even more power which will sacrifice turbo response for peak output, but for the time being that seems to be a ways off.
Turbo's have "boost thresholds" or boost onset points. This is commonly referred to as "lag" and many people do not like it.

The feeling of going from 100 ftlbs to 230 ftlbs in less than a sec while flooring the pedal is less than graceful. The engine goes from full on bogging/struggling to BOOM tons of power. Many call it an abomination. Many say "just keep it above 4k rpms".

My opninon:
Being a HPDE junkie that has owned, built and tracked a 450 WHP 2.0L turbo vs. a 280 WHP i6, it is frustrating sometimes when you feel you have to constantly worry about being in a narrow power band. Drop below it and it is disgusting. The constant shifting into a super lower gear around low speed corners is a pain and "un-smoothens" your driving.

I could drive way better in the NA i6. I could leave the car in 3rd and 4th the whole way round the track and be fast and also have power in 5th and 6th when needing to speed up on the freeway. The i6 was a much better car on the street with out that huge ramp up of torque in the 4k zone. Believe it or not the i6 felt faster due to the wider power band.

In the end it all up to you and what you want. When I was building the 2.0 turbo I wanted 400WHP or nothing at all. People told me it would be "laggy" but I thought I did'nt care. I was mistaken in thinking a 400WHP+ 4cyl turbo car would be excelent on the streets / or track course. Live and learn. My strategy now is no gigantic turbos on 2.0L engines.

As far as the turbos on P&L and FBM kits I can't say for certain. From the dyno's their power bands look exactly like my previous turbo'd 2.0L. So I would have to drive one first and see if it is god aweful below 4.5k rpms and see how sudden that boost kicks in at that rpm.

Would be cool to organize a track day where a few of the FI tuners bring their cars for ride-a-long's and test drives. I would even buy a plane ticket for that.

Looks good, can't wait to break the 300HP mark with my setup...sadly i might have to wait a little longer while I adjust to paying more for rent soon.

Well, hitting boost at 4.5k-5k sounds laggy. But when you up the rev limit to 9k, it will drive beautifully. That is a nice meaty powerband.

I used a 6262 on my last car. It was a beast. It didn't even get a full-tune, just a base map. It laid down over 500whp on high boost, and 360 on low boost. It was a blast on the street. But on the track, I agree, it was a bit frustrating. Fall below 5k and you have to wait just a second before boost. But with the 9k rev limit the engine was amazing!

Love the 6262, I made 675hp with mine on C16, Great turbo, but way too big for this car.

PM Me about purchase

He recorded a 0-60 with his G Tech timer thingy and it was in the 4 second range. Idk how accurate that it is.

Feeling faster and actually being faster are two different things.

I'm no expert but being that its a stock engine shouldn't it feel like stock when it's out of boost? Of course a 2.0l 450whp car will be "laggy" so honestly I don't think you should be comparing that to these kits. I have a friend with a 565whp integra with a gt40 on it and he ran a 10.56 quarter then proceeded to win the auto slalom championship up here. Ask him if his car is laggy and he'll laugh at you.

It is close to stock out of boost, but once you hit boost, the spool up is very quick. So if you've driven a car with a bigger turbo, you may refer to lag as the delay from the beginning of spool to redline. But, with this kit, once the turbo starts to spool around 3500-4000, depending on how hard you smash the pedal, it almost instantly hits the 8psi mark and holds all the way through.
