Guys with hids and led drl need input

I am looking at doing led drls and hids. With the led drl's you loose high has that been a issue at all?

Also what way did you do his? Retrofit projector kit or hid kit in existing headlights? What brand did you use?

I used eBay HID. For 35. Was pretty good. But I don't know how long it was last

I also have led DRL. It looks great. But you do lose high beam functionality. If you still want high beams. Then should do HID DRL

once u have the HID on your low beams. u wont really need for the High Beam. HID low beam light output is enough. just get a DRL LED. if u still wants the high beam function, using HID kit on high beam is just a waste of $$$.. just get a regular high beam bulb with your choice of color.

I went with True Street Industries and did the HID the LED Switch backs and the rest of the LED interior exterior. I have had 0 issues at night and have had a few friends with FRS grab the lights after seeing them.

You can talk to Lisa@TrueStreetIndustries on the forums here

I was on the same page. I wanted high beams. But I realized I never used them. LEDS are the way to go

I will be going HID lows (6000K kit from Distant Xtremes) and LED DRLs. Obviously can't give an opinion either way, but I heard enough good things about that setup that I went that direction.

One thing I don't know is how easy it is to change the high beam bulb...if it's fairly simple, it might be worth it to just swap out the bulbs if you plan on doing a long night driving stint out in the wilderness

The high beams makes a damn big difference on the highway even with hids in the low beam!!

You have a BRZ i assume he is talking about the FR-S

I have 5000k Morimoto HID's from TheRetrofitSource.com and LED DRL's from Concept-Three-LED's, the low beams are good enough for most situations but i find that when its raining and really dark i have trouble seeing. I ordered some 3000k LED DRL bulbs from Concept Three to use as a fog light when in those situations i'll let you guys know how it works.

Hey guys, I'd just like to shed some light on the topic from our personal experience. The FRS uses a projector that's strictly low beam, and a DRL that also functions as a high beam. Once you upgrade to HID's in the FRS, you will have brighter headlights that can handle most of the night driving you'll do. LED DRL's in the FRS are another story. They look great, and will still brighten up if you hit the high beam, but at that point, you're basically using them for "signalling" purposes only. The LED DRL's will not be brighter than your headlights as far as night driving functions. Now you are left with another, but more costly option, which is opening up your headlights and replacing the stock FRS projectors with Bixenon projectors, and you'll be left with a great highbeam option. I never recommend HID High beam/DRL's because it is very taxing on the ballasts when flashed constantly to signal other drivers. If you left them off, and only turned them on for extended night driving (almost like headlight use) they are fine to use, though. Please feel free to PM us and we'll answer more questions and set you up with a package!
