Thanks for the interest and I finally managed to get around to it. I will be posting up a DIY soon. Love how unobtrusive it looks. Next best thing to shaving the stock antenna off.

Looks much better than the shark fin IMO. Any idea if it will fit the BRZ? I know the base is slightly larger due to the navigation.

As for signal strength the connections were a bit different but looking right in the plug they're very similar just the connector housing is different. I can splice the corresponding male plug when i get the chance. I lost slight radio signal but I mainly use pandora from my phone anyways. I'll get around to figuring out how to correctly wire it up.

The hole where the antenna is mounted through should be the same in both the brz and frs which is a little more than an inch wide. Essentially any other oem satellite antenna can be used in theory. I ordered this antenna for a little under $50

The BRZ GPS antenna is in the dash, i believe (at least judging by the TSB info). The reason the BRZ's base is wider is because of the Satellite radio antenna.
