The other day my coworker and I went to grab lunch, as well as fill up my car at the local Wawa. As soon as I pulled into the Wawa gas station, a curious stranger from the driver side came to us excitingly asking how I enjoyed the car. He asked kindly if I drove with paddle shifters. I told him that I have the manual configuration but heard the auto is top notch. He continued to tell me I should go drive the one with paddle shifters as it's a better driving experience.

Meanwhile in the conversation my coworker was rolling his eyes whispering to me on the passenger side, essentially questioning why would someone driving a stick dump his car to drive an auto. I said it's all good as I wasn't going to drive an auto, even after the fact. However, I was enjoying the talk with the stranger, regardless of his view. Unfortunately, the conversation with the stranger abruptly ended when a large Dodge Ram coming in from the opposite side almost collided with the stranger, and the stranger angrily started insulting the Ram driver.. lol.

My wife has put like 400 miles on it since we bought it. She never told me about any comments.

I drive it basically once ever. To the dry cleaner, 1 mile round trip. The asian dry cleaner dude saw it thru the window and went "whoaaaaaaaaaa nice car!". I laughed.

I tapped, I talked, I conquered.

*shrugs* Personally, when I saw one on the road I drove like a mad women to catch up, and when I did-I drove nice and slow to get a nice long look at it on the road.
I live on long island and haven't seen too many
Ive never seen one (other than mine) mobile. They were really short supply until recently. now inventory up, butI think the snow is really keeping people away.

People say rather incredulously, "So you traded in your BMW?"

I remember the first night I got it, I took her downtown to a festival. An entire corner of people crossing the street stared as I rounded the corner, made my wife uncomfortable. Made me hope I didn't stall.

I was standing a little way away from her and some teens yelped, "that's a FRS! It's tiny!"

I'll get old guys asking about every detail from compression ratio and weight distribution, and whether it is better then a Porsche pretty often.

Best was one a bunch of Asian dudes in a u-haul truck kept trying to get me to race them.

Now that I've had mine about one and a half months, the reactionary tales are piling up.

Met with a friend and his ultra clean 911SC to show him the FR-S and let him drive it. While we were talking in the parking lot, a middle aged guy and his wife were walking by and he was telling her all about it and they looked in the windows. I asked if they wanted to sit in it, which they did, and they both liked it. The guy then proceeded to talk about his MB C230 coupe for about 10 minutes while my friend and I just smiled and nodded.

Washing the car in the driveway, some middle school kids from the school up the street walked by and ooooohed and ahhhhhed, and said "nice car."

Had a brand new Civic Si with dealer plates come rushing up to pass me in the left lane on the highway, but then he paced me for a few seconds, downshifted, and VTECced out.

An AE92 full of kids was stopped at a light in front of me, and the kids in the back seat were smiling and staring, and giving the thumbs up.

Sitting in the car while parked on a street that has lots of pedestrian traffic is funny. I've seen people staring for seconds on end without ever noticing I was sitting inside. Overhear other people talking about it as walking past.

There's been a few more too. When I first picked up the car, I went a few weeks without any attention grabbing moments. Lately there's something just about every time I take it out. I suppose there is a bit of magic to it. It'll be interesting to see how long that lasts.

Yep, after 5 months, I still get looks, especially when you're first at an intersection.
Still love it

Mine still pulls the looks as well. Especially after I get off of work on Fridays and clean her up for the weekend

Had a job interview today and one of the guy's that interviewed me asked, "Was that you I saw pull up in the really nice car out front?" Got a nod of approval from him when I said yes. He also told me he used to work at Toyota where my dad works (though he didn't know my dad). I'm hoping that's extra points in my favor for the job.

Does anybody else not gun it through yellow lights for this very reason?

I used to always go through yellow lights, now, not so much. I enjoy seeing all the people break their necks as they pass by

After owning the car for a good 8 months now, I was starting to think that maybe the spark had died and people were 'over' the newness of the 86. Boy was I wrong!

The truth is that people's interest is directly proportional to how clean the car is. Between the the southeaster storm and cold weather I had been somewhat lax on keeping her clean. Sure, I'd rinse surface dirt off but it was missing that pop and shine it once had.

A bottle of Croftsgate detailer with some elbow grease and she's as good as new. The Firestorm really pops out when it's clean. These past weeks I have gotten the familiar looks now that she is clean once again, so keep that in mind!

One the way home from the dealership a guy honked to get my attention at a red light. Rolled down the window and he asked me if it was a Hyundai. LOL. Said it was a beautiful car and congratulated me on my new purchase. It's been parked in the garage since, so come warm weather, I'm sure I will have more stories to tell.
