He said he expects about a 50 whp increase with E-85. Lets see if he can work his majic! I am very interested in these kits he is testing/selling.

Hey John,

When you post up some dynos for the two superchargers can you overlay boost on the chart as well so we can see what sort of psi we'd be at through the rpm range?

Yesterday I spent most of my day working on the Vortech supercharger kit.

I was using a mustang dyno which reads about 15-20% lower then a dynojet.

I grabbed the wrong dynosheet while I was running out the shop to try and beat the snow.

I'll have the dynosheet and hopefully dynojet numbers after I get back from my Texas trip on Wednesday

Yesterday I was on 93 octane and used both the normal pulley and the smaller one.

The smaller pulley makes more boost, about 3PSI more @ Red Line - 11PSI total.

I was expecting to make more power with the smaller pulley, but found that 93 was not enough octane to make this pulley really shine.

Because of the lack of octane I had both pulleys making about the same power.

After I get back from my trip I plan on doing a ethanol calibration for this kit.

But for now running less ignition timing with the smaller pulley on pumpgas seems to offer the best and most consistent results.

I this because you are revving this car out higher than Perrin? He showed 280 whp with the smaller pulley vs 240 whp with the stock one but all at stock redline. Interesting results.

Perrin is also on a dynapack which reads about 30% higher than a mustang dyno. 280whp on a dynapack equates to about 215whp on a mustang dyno. So depending on Johns results, he may have made more power on the bigger pulley and comparable power on the smaller pulley.

For my testing yesterday I was reving the car to 7700-7800rpms.

I was on a low reading mustang Dyno for this test.. A stock car on this Dyno reads about 120-125 whp reads 15-20% less then a dynojet .. Dynopacks tend to read higher then dynojet.

All you need to understand is on a lower reading Dyno the gains are also smaller when compared to a higher reading Dyno. So if you put a exhaust on a car and pickup 20whp on a dynojet , you would only pickup 15whp on a low reading Dyno.

When I was in Cali I used a mustang Dyno and dynojet on the same day.. One Dyno showed 199whp, other showed 240whp

Anyways-
With the smaller pulley I could make up for lack of boost with timing.. I didn't see any real big power difference between 91 and 93 octane... 5whp isnt anything to talk about. I've had similar results with some of the turbo kits I've been working on. No doubt the FA20 motor is a strange beast.

Making max HP is not what I want to do, I want reliable and consistent results.. For me the car needs make the same power at least 3 times in a row on back to back Dyno runs with no cool off...

With 100octane or e85 I would expect a 30-40whp bump In power with the smaller pulley.
