^This pretty much describes me all the time. I bought a game that was released this year during steam sale and it was the first time in years.

I cut down on Mt.Dew. Yes, I have vices. :|

And to your other statement about only building bland econoboxes. You have to admit it was true for a lot of years. I'm elated to see those days come to an end.
I'm already planning the trip to SEMA next year. Every year there seems to be a feature car that there are 100 examples of all decked out. Last years car was the new Camaro. My bet is that the BRZ/SCION will be next years jewell of the show. Gonna be a long year waiting for SEMA 2012.

That's what happened with the Scion tC (1st gen).

What is the compression ratio for the 2.0L Subaru Boxer? I know this version will be different, but what about the older one?

The N/A. If stock compression is on the high side, then going to have to be conservative with the boost pressure.

Sorry, but you need to research before making that statement. The TRD S/C (Vortech rebadge) for the Scion tC was an epic fail and was no where near the power levels of a turbo. It largely depends on the type of S/C being used. In the case of the tC, they chose a weak ass Centrifugal design. You can only go so small on a pulley to make more boost out it. Turbo's go up in size not down, and depending on your A/R you put together for your engine, you can cater to a particular type of power you want (i.e. change your powerband and how and where that power comes in). S/C, can't really do that.

Turbo > S/C....ESPECIALLY in the 4banger world. In the V8 world then the performance differences are a lot closer.

I'd never put a S/C on a 4 banger over a turbo.

I'm pretty confident.

Celica had a turbo (before 7th gen)
MR2 had a turbo
Supra had a turbo
STI has a turbo
Next gen WRX/STI will have a turbo

and if not, I'm willing to put money on the fact that an aftermarket turbo will be made.

there will be engine swaps for turbo engines

One way or another, people will get there turbo.

That's a bit of a no-brainer. I will be one of the aftermarket turbo equipped ones. Aftermarket turbo > Factory turbos all day every day.

Since when does a S/C not need lubrication? TRD S/C for the tC tapped into the oil pan just like any turbo setup would.

Let me see. Most of EJ engine had same CR. 9.5~10:1 (except for EJ204)
FB20 was 10.5... I think (not sure). I'm still learning the FB engine
This is out of my head, so can't say 100% but I can say 95% sure

What Ichitaka said is accurate. The EJ204 had 11:1 compression and was N/A.

I double checked. EJ20 had 9.5-10:1. FB20 is 10.5:1. EJ204 had 11.1:1(not sure how accurate since I have heard a couple different numbers).

WTF? since when are we talking about the tC SC? im talking about a SC kit for the FT using a set up similar to the tundra kit. specifically a SC based off the eaton TVS. such a set up will give you enough boost for a modest performance gain, no lag, and a flat tq curve.

maybe you would never put a SC on a 4 banger but that doesnt mean others shouldnt. you can go the turbo route if you want. but you're going to be the one who deals with heat, fitment, overboosting, spool, boost leaks, or whatever problems that are commonly associated with turbos...

PS: centrifugal SC are crap imo, only rotrex is worthy as a consideration.

all depends on the kit turbo/SC.. my s2000 had a vortex SC and i would never put a turbo on that car/motor, it was so good. i would take a supercharged FT86 over turbo but we will see what if anything they do. both TRD and STI will way the options and put out what they think is best. i hope one picks one and the other the picks the other.. really just hope one of them will FI it

that one guy said that a dealer took his $ for a down payment.. is that for real? isn't it going to be after LA at least probably Tokyo before we can put $ down/ order?

Actually, he's probably just first on the list when it comes time that they CAN place an order. If production starts in May 2012, we (dealers) won't be able to order the car until mid-April, MAYBE early April.

My region, Central Atlantic Toyota, (PA, MD, VA, WV, DE), releases a TVO (total vehicle output) book that shows how and what cars are being produced and brought into the region. Once that is released, they update the web based software that we use to preference vehicles.

Each region may vary as far as time frame though by a few weeks because, and this is just a guess, Japanese produced vehicles arrive to the west coast sooner than the east coast.

Long story short, if a dealer is telling you they can order a car more than a month before productions starts..... You can be the first on the list to have your order placed once available or whatever position you'd be in based on previous "orders".

In my opinion on any car, a turbo is so much better these days. It's not like back in the journal bearing days of the 70s... we have ball bearing dual scroll turbos that boost almost instantly... they cause less parasitic loss to the power. and when you are just cruising there is no change in fuel efficiency.
