Speedometer must be reading 8-9% too high as well. Must have to do mental conversion to remember, or get different speedometer.

RCE already confirmed the speedo is unaffected. Someone else also suggested the ABS sensors are used for the vehicle speed calc. Those two statements support eachother.

Ah I missed that. Thanks for the clarification.

EDIT: Does this mean that larger wheel and tire sizes (larger overall diameter) won't affect speedometer reading?

Got a ride in it today; you can feel the quickness. Most importantly the torque valley goes by quicker. So while the dip obviously isn't gone since you didn't touch power you're through that area of the powerband a LOT quicker. My only concern would be highway miles as well.
This would complement my S/C kit really well as long as I have a nice tall gear to cruise with. Any of you guys think a new 6th will be put out anytime soon? IDK how common that is, this is the first time I learned you could modify gearing like that. Fun.

Uncommon. Usually full gearsets or nothing. Frankly, you may want a TALLER final drive. You'll have more power from the kit so acceleration is no big deal anymore...you can afford to lower cruising RPMs by swapping in a 3.7xx FD.

Yeah, true. I'll wait to see what it's like after I get it installed before I make any gearing changes. Thanks.

In any case swapping just a gear for MPG purposes usually doesn't pay for itself due to how much it costs vs. fuel savings.

Not so much about savings as sanity, I don't think I would like making inter-state drives at 4000 RPM.

I think maybe...if your car has exhaust and is modified they mightjust think its THAT much faster........but yes a good tech or fellow enthusiast will hit the nail on the head.

Well if you drive a shitton of highway miles (especially if you like to go fast on the highway, like 80mph, cuz friction usually gets pretty bad over 3000rpm) and it's a rather big gearing change then it could end up paying for itself over time, but the primary use would probably be noise and possibly reduced oil consumption? At lower engine speeds the pitch of the exhaust is lower and the mechanical noise is much reduced so it's far more tolerable.
