True. I'm fine with 200HP actually. 220 would be nice, 240 would probably be about all I'd ever want but the cost would be higher.. soo..

It won't be a rocket ship but it won't be wheezing along either.

As much as I love Subaru/FHI, Honda holds a special place with me. When Subaru can ring out 8-9krpm daily, put 600hp thru their stock transmissions, while still being reliable and good on gas THEN be happy. They are great at AWD and turbo applications, credit is due there, but this standard version "BRZ" is a monstrosity in it's line up.

My car weighs a little less than the FRS and has 20 more power 30 more torque and I still think it's too slow for me. You can't be serious that people are complaining about nothing, because I sure am complaining. It could of at least been a 2.2L pushing like 223hp on the standard N/A models.

The beauty of the aftermarket is that you don't have to pick one... you can make your car fast everywhere.

Yeah to me 200 hp is plenty to start off with. If I need a bit more than the standard I/H/E and reflash would keep me happy.

Very true, but he was talking stock. I'm all for improving things after, but complaining about the stock car when it wasn't built for that purpose is a tad asinine.

Cost could be the same where you lose metal in block bore is added in pistons and crank for 2.4L. A 2.4L block on the currents heads would easily hit 180tq and depending on valve sizing and the flow characteristics of the heads you could produce 220/180 without flinching before head work and tuning commences.

I mean it should only drive the MSRP up another ~$1k x 13000 units. I think it would cover costs just fine. It would then satisfy both n/a and probably turbo lovers maybe even me for a good bit.

Oh ok, gotcha... I completely agree.... But I fully intend on making mine a presence on the 1/4 mile tracks here in southern California... and at Fontana running the "roval"

You don't even know how much these can be bored out.

I'm fine with more power, but really, when did anyone ever expect more than 200HP? They've been saying 200HP for what, 3 years or something?

Anyone shocked, upset or disappointed by something that was known 3 years ago just needs to get over it. Or perhaps shouldn't have wasted 3 years watching this car when they could have bought something with 300hp already.

[QUOTE=Aki;70646]Hah I get asked that sometimes, nope, not a mechanic.

Different Aki then...I used to work with an Aki that was into the old AE86s, was a mechanic, and could read Japanese. Thought you might have been him.

I own a MINI Cooper S it is not a dragster but it puts down more tq and hp earlier in powerband and at peak than the FRS and weighs less, I'm pretty confident that it handles the same if not better, it has power bolt-ons, flash BUT stock suspension. The argument isn't about me being faster or beating the FRS, it's about even my damn car which are all these things still isn't enough.

You guys keep saying it's not that type of car, that 197hp is enough for a 2700# car. Well it isn't, not for 2012 and what it'll be up against on the track in it's class, Dave mention his ITR was making that 14 years ago with 1.8L in stock form, sad that these cars are doing the same with higher displacement and DI.
