I'm using an app called Road trip to track fuel cons and expenses.

I'm confused.... Toyota made the 86 for super fuel efficiency? Or kick ass fun driving....
Has the car been entered into Car of the year or economy run....... ![]() ![]() ![]() I can see you all driving like Miss Daisy...... LOL |

Haha exactly.
Fuel economy should be of no concern to an 86 driver.

i just drove 7.8 kms from a petrol station (did a reset) to the office, via dewaal drive (hills) and according to the reading, my avg consumption is sitting at 6.3 but i drove like an 86 year old (and felt like one) and on such a short distance the estimate is probably way off
i reckon the way i've been measuring economy is all wrong, the car only needs 7.5 avg, but i need 2 litres for entertainment. I think i get more enjoyment from those 2 litres than i would get from an equivalent amount of beer so i'm ok with that |

I must say, they could have added distance to empty and average speed at least.
I'd be surprised if the car couldn't make it to Durban on a single tank.

And why I'm paranoid with fuel economy, I once did Margate on 49 litres with no slow driving - not with the 86 of course... Calculated 14.3km/l...

Not bad - check Deef's fuel cons on his recent trip. 14km/l iirc which should be good enough to get you to Durban on a single tank. Either way, just fill up at Harrismith and you're sorted.

Adding to which on long trips I guzzle 440ml PowerPlays to stay sharp! My recent economy run yielded 13.2km/l. So considering it is downhill to Durban 566km it would take approx. 43l on a light foot to get there... |

Yep, also remember that the 86's fuel light is VERY pessimistic. I think there is about 11l left in the tank when it lights up.

Also true! I normally fill up before it even lights up... Hate warning lights...
