Funny FR-S Review

I had to laugh at the video because it captures the car so well! It really is a glorious handling piece of crap. And somehow, that is OK.

Lets put this into perspective, I have had to use a 1967 MGB as a back-up car to the FRS just so I can get to work. If that is not ironic and funny, then nothing is.

It is also interesting how so may on this board react to any negaive comments about the car... as if I were saying that your girlfriend was ugly or something!

The truth is that this car is a bit of a f--kup in a lot of critical areas. If your car has not yet suffered from any of the flaws, then I dont want to hear from you. The bitching and moaning that gets expressed by those owners who deal with the issus will ensure that either a better product comes out for future buyers, or tToyota nd Subaru decide to kill the product and never provide a fun car at a low price point.

Let me state again: I don't hate the fucking car. If I did, I'd be trading it in for a Camaro or a Cobra and just make more money on the side to pay for it. I bought this car because it is raw and cheap enough to mod. It has some flaws that I think are unacceptable. If I buy a car like this, I expect the drivetrain to be where all the money is in, not anything else. Btw, I average 17mpg.. So yeah, I beat the shit out of it.

Oh yeah.. One more thing.. Whaaaa whaaaaaaa (: lol

(shitbox) so why do i want one after two or three test drives? it ain't worth 25 large,but i really want it,and it will be the last one i buy,IF i buy it! looking for justification at this point! still on the fence,but leaning! wish i could find one for around 16 k or so,but i'm dreamin' too early! must be f**king nuts,but i want the "slush" box,because i just want to "profile" in it! (w.t.f!)

it is a shitbox! over priced! it meets a pricepoint which,in my view,is too high for what you get! stand back,and really look at the f**kin' thing! there is really nuthin' to it! it 's like a toy,and feels built like one too! very thin sheet metal,lots of cheap plastics,lousy paint,cheap ass interior,at 25 large,you are getting "smoked!" I guess I don't understand the current definition of a "shitbox". My first four cars cost $1,500 TOTAL. Those I could define with that term, although I loved every one of them in their own way.

As for the video, Dezoris may have had valid points, I don't know. I have watched some of his DIY stuff, good stuff. But in this since he couldn't express himself without resulting to 4 letter words for "impact" I stopped watching. It's not that I'm a prude, it just immediately turns me off.

You think this trans is notchy? HAHAA!! again take a wrx out in any temp and get back to us on that. Or a BW T5 trans (in fairness to compare rwd to rwd box). I've never come across one that wasn't notchy or didn't grind from 1st to 2nd when cold.

For living in a place that doesn't have a harsh winter we have some SHITTY roads in VB.. and I dont hear one creak, rattle or clunk out of this car over the worst of road surfaces. My wrx.. sounded like a bag of bolts and soda cans over every little pebble in the road.

This car for being as minimal as it is (as it was designed to be, it is just a $24K car) .. is put together pretty well.

Granted, I just got mine in December so a lot of the production mishaps have been cleared up. I only have 2900 mi on it so far so I really haven't gotten much wear into it yet.. but at the same mileage/age my more expensive WRX sounded like it was falling apart.

No car is perfect but to expect $50K car traits in a $24K car is just stupid.

If that's your opinion stick to the civic. Seriously. Dont bother. If you think $25k is huge money in the car market you've got a lot to learn. I'll refrain from personal insults but the bullshit here is gettin thick.

You're getting $25k worth of car with a FRS. If you're questioning that you dont fully understand what this car is to the car world and what it represents. It has the same sort of soul that old lotus's and porsches have, that MGB's and triumph's had.. its raw, its light and its fun.

If that cannot be grasped and all that's wanted is all that other foo foo plush bullshit then go by a fucking accord. Soulless drivers deserve soulless cars.

I am honestly speechless. Not becuase i'm a 'fanboy', but becuase the f***ed up perspective that some people have is astounding. Take a moment to contemplate the complexities of every mechanical / electrical system in that car. Not even what's just unique to that car, but every little thing that makes it do what it does. And you still call it a 'shitbox'....

I've had a few shitboxes. Luckily nothing I had to drive for long times periods of time. usually only one brake out of 4 really worked, the rest just kinda helped.. engines that would knock when cold let alone burn more oil than gas. Holes in the floor that were bad enough that rain/snow would splash up through. All while building friends cars that were actually worth something and saving my pennies to get the next better shitbox. Ya gotta get to work and when ya poor ya take what ya can get.

Hell you want shitbox? I built a 430hp MERKUR.. as if ford didn't bastardize that car a bunch I had to go and make it fast. HA.. never again.
