I love seeing that too. At the end of the day those guys are just spectators and will never buy any supercharger/turbo kit. Shit they end up buying ebay kits and blowing thier motors all to save a few pennies.

106kw atw stock, and 162kw atw boosted with the laminova cooler.
that has been around for a while. based on the units I'm going to assume that this is somewhere where they have 97 octane, if this is using the intercooler that means its also running more boost (stage 2).
I don't care about anything but US dyno results for stage 1 with the water we call GAS here.

I'm assuming thats a stage 2 set up which number-wise is not impressive.

They must be using a mustang dyno or one that reflects lower numbers at the wheels.

Stock Claim - 106KW = 142HP
Bullet Claim - 162KW = 217HP

See that's a 75HP increase! If that's at the wheels, I think that's about what most people are looking forward to with a kit like this. That would imply about 235WHP on relative dynos seen on the site.

MY THEORY - They don't want to show that low of a number and likely are trying to eek out some extra ponies with a tune and final adjustments. I'm expecting this kit to be in the 230-250WHP range (stage 2). I'd love for it to be closer to 270-280WHP but I doubt it will be without some additional modifications.

A lot of people will look at HP/$ ratio and if they come out with 220-230, a lot of people will run to the Vortech. At that price point, they are going to need scale to turn a profit.

More interesting than the peak power is the graph so we can see the changes to the torque band (if any) and how the power delivery changes. The low down response that this kit has will be what I am after

Here's to hoping for a ruler-flat torque curve with decent top end power.

Midrange punch for passing trucks!

The figures were achieved on a Dyno Dynamics dyno, basically the standard in Australia and they do read lower than the results we see from other dyno's in the USA.

Right, to get away from what kind of dyno was used, if you just scale engine power directly off the baseline and the indicated peak power to the wheels, we're looking at 300bhp. That may not being a ton by aftermarket standards, but that is a significant improvement. There's also always the hope that they've managed to wring more out of it with tuning. And then there's the question of what e85 will bring to the table. I am excited.

Not a lot? That's 50% more power than stock. That's definitely a significant improvement. Now 50% is always a different number...for something like an STI we're talking 450bhp for 50% power above stock.

Not a ton as in people want to see S2000 Vortech wheel numbers (hey, it's a supercharged 2.0L four cylinder after all), but yes, it is still a lot. A 300bhp BRZ will be a learning experience in its own right. For a sub-$5k kit, if it can do that or better reliably, count me in.
