Yeah, thats right, it had a 2.0 turbo boxer, compliments of this supposed "G Sports" division from Toyota. I'd think its safe to say there IS a turbo for this thing in the hands of Toyota already. And if they DO like they said they were gonna DO, we should see a turbo.
No, we haven't forgotten the Mk1.5 ver

but have you forgotten. Gazoo was driving NA engine at VLN race?

Mk1.5 was an idea (so Tada-san stated)... Maybe Gazoo might make turbo ver... but don't expect it

At this point I'm almost certain there will be a turbo. Maybe they don't want to mention it to kill early sales. Maybe it will be during mid-life cycle, maybe late-life cycle, but there will be a turbo on it, whether by STI or TRD.

I'm pretty confident.

Celica had a turbo (before 7th gen)
MR2 had a turbo
Supra had a turbo
STI has a turbo
Next gen WRX/STI will have a turbo

and if not, I'm willing to put money on the fact that an aftermarket turbo will be made.

there will be engine swaps for turbo engines

One way or another, people will get there turbo.

Exactly what I want, a simple intercooled PD supercharger. No fuss with a FMIC, worrying about compromising your lubrication system, drilling return lines, etc. Hopefully get a nice little boost of low-midrange power ~220rwhp? I can dig it.

If that's the case
Celica had AWD
MR2 had convertible
Supra had targa
STI had/have AWD

so which means FRS gonna come AWD, convertible, targa options right?

Nope think about it...the high spec really does not have a lot of expensive stuff for a $24K car.....$24k is priced right...remember there is no sunroof in this car...not even leather seats in the high-spec...no navigation...a basic stereo...only 17 inch rims...about the only thing expensive is the HIDS and LED accents...

Think about it...17inch rims, the leather steering wheel, white gauges, push button start, aluminum pedals...should have been part of the low spec model..but hey for all we know the low spec model might be $22k.

The TRD stuff will be accessories..not options.

Just go to scion.com and check out how the price and configure their current 4 cars...u choose automatic, or manual (if possible) and everything else is from the accessories list.

I am predicting $24K for hi-spec Scion FR-S.

Traditionally TRD has ALWAYS shunned Turbo kits, I cannot remember the last time TRD released a turbo kit. If TRD releases any type of FI for this engine it will most likely be a supercharger with an intercooler of some sort. Whether they go with a centrifugal type SC with a separate intercooler like they released for the Scion tC or a lobe type SC with integrated inter-cooling in one unit like they did for my Toyota Tacoma, solely depends on what works best for the car and what they can fit in the engine bay.

I will be highly supprised if TRD even goes near a Turbocharger and if they do it will most likely be developed heavily by Subaru and just badged as TRD IMO.
yes in recent years toyota has gone the SC route, but this engine is primarily a subaru engine. What do subaru performance engines have? A nice little snail . I would expect a turbo over a SC for this car, IF we were to see any FI option. I have an 07 wrx, and can say from experience on a modern, smaller turbo setup there is minimal lag. And my car has plenty of get up and go even below 3k rpms.

I wouldn't be shocked to see this car go on sale for a year or two, then have a FI option become available. Lots of lease returns, and trade ins by people who wanted a boosted ft/brz, but settled for what was offered initially. Think Apple, and how they always hold back to make people buy each generation of any product.

Once my 07 wrx is paid off, I'll weigh out my options. trade it in for a new sti, or keep it and get an older truck for hauling, and an ft/brz for some rwd action

It was already stated that the possibility of a convertable was designed into the car from the beginning.

There won't be AWD because that would sacrifice weight too much and subaru already has the Impreza/WRX/STI

Targas are out of style and redundant if there is a convertible version

Just woke up at 530am in the uk after a restless sleep still thinking about yesterday's release of the BRZ
Switch on the iPad that lives by my bed and all this info
I'm hyper now
Brakes ,suspension and even a thing for the door

Looks like I will want everything on the list
To make this a bad ass tarmac shredder
Price well it doesn't really matter
I waited 2 years in 2000 for my my00 greenwagon
Then waited a year to the wrxd came out and still have the pair of them

This will be my early mid life retirement car as my vision was always porsche so this BRZ is what I want so cost

Well the misses and me can live on bread and water and turn the heating down a couple of degrees and I can slash the house hold budget just to get one of these

What will tomorrows update bring

A sound track of the exhaust revving
Life is worth living at the moment thanks to this great forum
