I drive my car 6-7 months per year (April to october).
The car will never see winter. I do about 6 000 miles per year. I dont track my car. It's a daily street car. I will keep and have fun with it may be 3 - 4 - 5 years and then another sports car will come out on the market and I will want to change to be up to date again. Will I get more monney for my car when I will want to sell it because I have a JDL headers on it instead of a borla ? Not a penney more. In those conditions, I dont see why the borla would fall apart after 2-3 years only and why I should spend more monney to get a headers that will be better than something already pretty good. Peoples who track theirs cars put a lot of stress on them and may look at something stronger but otherwise for the big majority Borla have quality products that will respond/meet our expectation. JDL is trying to justify why they will ask a lot more monney for their headers and he said that he even tought the Borla wasnt in stainless steel. JDL is an artist and Borla is a big company with experience, knowledge and big factory behind them and they can produce in mass, scale economy that's it. If you can't see the quality difference of a hand made piece versus a 600 dollar machine welded header with little research poured into it, then by all means go with Borla. When your header rusts later down the road and isn't coated, don't say I didn't warn you. Read the collector portion of JDL's header, then look at Borla's collector. You'll see differences right away. Nameless is going to run longer tubes in their header. I wouldn't doubt you will see a bit higher performance from those headers.
You get what you pay for. I'll leave it at that. |

I dont understand why you think it is a down side that something is done by a machine because machines dont do mistakes. Machines are equal in their movement and building quality, capacity. Machines dont knows when it is friday PM. Machines will never be distract be anything. A well programmed machine will make the job just perfect like you want to.
For example: Have your car painted by somebody and you will probably find something somewhere you dont like. No job made by human is perfect. Take an oem paint done by machines and the result is very hard to beat no matter which paint shop you will go. I know by experience, I tried a lot of them with good reputation and the result is never like the factory. Something created by hand is unique, a piece of art but doesnt means better than something created at scale necessary. Just different. Perhaps JDL or others small headers shop will comes with a better flow solution than the Borla, times will tell. Everything is possible but at which cost and for how big of a difference. Are you Toretto or Michael Schumacher to want to be faster by a quarter of second ?

Exactly. It's made for mass production, not to last. I have some Hooker headers on my Camaro, very well respected brand, mass produced. They've got a good amount of rust on the flanges near the engine. If you coat a good pair of high quality headers, they will last through weather and heat.

reading from page one which was really resourceful with all the information posted to page 6 with just plain bickering. *sigh* what happened?
anyway. anybody else have videos with different exhaust combinations with this header? its really a good thread imo for people thinking about getting the actual product. |

i'm gonna wait for the other UEL headers to be released, then figure out whats what. regardless i'll be UEL, catless with two resonators.
evo 3 is louder hands down. but its a completely different tone. |

Even though you may not understand all of it, you do to some extent and they give reasoning why they did this, and that, and not that, etc. Sorry to go off topic so much, this thread is about the Borla UEL header, it does sound amazing, and I hope I am proven wrong about everything I've said. This header does sound amazing and I am sure it will work out well for anyone who buys it from FT-86 Speedfactory. |
