help with tire selection?

Ok guys, so I am going to be runnning motegi traklite wheels for autox this year, and was wondering what tires I should run (not going FI until after this season, so I saw no reason to go with a wider wheel).

The wheels are 16x7 and +40 offset.

I was thinking I should probably run a 225/50/16 in hankook ventus v12 or continental extremecontact dw?

any other suggestions will be taken into consideration. Looking for something I can use in wet traction also

FWIW, I ran the hankook v12s in that same tire size, same exact wheel (different bolt pattern) on my 08 VW GTI and was NOT impressed. They are fine for road use and relatively comfortable, but they certainly didn't feel very sporty or responsive. They heated up quickly, even in autox, and became useless pretty quickly... Are these exclusively autox/track tires or will you be dd'ing them too?

EDIT: If these are autox/track tires, I think you might be happy with these (I think the smaller size will be better, plus give you more aggressive final drive ratio for better acceleration)- http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...15&ar=45&rd=16

thanks for the reply, these for now are dd wheels/tires for the summer. I have a set of dedicated winters, but we get a lot of rain around here, so something a little softer is needed. I went ahead and bought the continentals. I'll let you guys know how I like them in a couple months.
