Neither Visconti or Bob started this thread. The OP went with the latter's tune.
I've not done business with Visconti, seems he has several popular e-tunes, very loyal customers and some that reported getting treated very poorly. Fa20club seems to have great service, products and a lot of happy customers. You'll be hard pressed to find any unhappy customers of Drift-Office. Not only do they provide great service, they have the experience and credibility to back it up. In fact since Bob has signed on as a vendor, he has only very recently began selling dyno-tunes, but has been R&Ding his FRS tunes for some time. Otherwise he has only put together a free dyno day and multiple FRS/BRZ gymkhana events for beginners at a very low entry price. (Anyone who's been will tell you it's a blast and friendly instructors). He is also an enthusiast who frequently goes to local meets and won't discuss business. There is a reason that the well-reputed AVO chose to work with him. Both AVO and Drift-Office's business practices are transparent and honest, almost to a fault in terms of marketing. I think my point is go with who you trust. If you're not sure, give one of them a call and see what side of the fence you land on. For full disclosure, I am a Drift-Office customer that has paid Bob to install my turbo kit and tune. Anyone who has worked with him will tell you that he is one of the best. |

I plan on going to Bob to get tuned once I go turbo since live tuning is always better imo and the only ecutek guys up here pretty much ignored me and didn't seem like they care for the platform (rally guys they are all about awd and turbos)
I have dealt with John before and while he has his days like all of us he was very helpful when I ran into trouble. I think a lot of the issues with John were because he was the only tuner at the time and everyone went with him and everyone wanted their tunes right away which I can understand but its not realistic. I've heard of Drift Office before and have only heard good things so I look forward to going there and all the woosh woosh noises that will come afterwards.

I would like to know of the problems people had with Visconti? You guys do realize he doesn't just tune frs/brz's right? He tunes 100k gtr's and actually designed and built the worlds first fully fuctional flex fuel stock Ecu GTR. Huge breakthrough. And is working to bring this to this platform also. He's only one guy and travels from state to state constantly. All well tuning, answering phone calls ect. As far as I know his customer service is top notch. For the record he tunes my cars and I actually trust him to the point that he has my GTR right now at his house and he lives 3 states away. The reason I'm on here is because I'm purchasing a frs. Very cool cars. I hope to make friends here as well and share my experiances( whether good or bad) with the community.

Also for those wondering, during the dyno runs I lifted up on the gas just before hitting the rev limit so I won't hit the fuel cutoff. This might just be my noobie mistake but this is only my 2nd session behind the wheel on the dyno.

I understand that and is def a good thing to do. I would really be concerned about that dip in power though. I'm very well experianced with high hp cars(900+awhp evo, hpf m3 800+hp, 800+hp tt 350z, 700hp s4, ect) and that def looks like car pulled timing do to knock hense going rich.

I'm not here to pick a fight, but I'm certainly here to answer for and defend our work. So to that end, I'll only say this much ~

We're no stranger to high HP cars either. It's not like started tuning 6 months ago yeah? I could pull up the logs tomorrow during my lunch break. I could show you all the AM, the AFRs and the knock sensor in the RPM range in question. Your theory is sound except that when using a custom rom, the commanded AFRs are just that and if you notice, my AFRs are consistently richer since my calibration was tuned for a stock intake. I could let some of you guys go on about said "classic knock" but I figured I'd highlight this before anyone else tries to incite an riot and embarrass themselves further:The tune we used is an NA calibration meant for a stock intake, stock everything else. It wasn't a 'custom tune' for the car. The Visconti tune was more custom in that it was optimized for the AirRAID intake accordingly. Now if you've been following all the intake testing and the OP's previous posts about FA20 & Visconti V1 tunes, you'd see that the AirRAID has always resulted a rich top end and that 'knock'. Case in point : Ref : http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17379 From this reference, look at the dyno chart that the OP posted when concerning the AirRAID intake... Now NOTE the GREEN dyno plot marked "Visconti Flash AR Intake" @ 6700RPM What's that I see @ 6700RPM?! And his response to the above posted results? Quote:
We noticed it right off. Yet I said nothing condescending (publicly or otherwise) of any sort on the forum and even told the OP that this was due to the inherent nature of the specific intake's design. I think the OP would even agree that I defended Visconti's work then (looking back, a mistake now.) Still think it's 'knock'? For my next exhibit...on a 100% stock FRS using said intake : Ref : http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19413 Case in point, stock OEM ECU, AirRaid Intake : ![]() Oh look, right at the 6700RPM range too. Must have been my imagination... or is that a "classic knock" as well? ![]() Really now. Do you all still want me to show you the logs? Or were you all just seeing a common anomaly with the said intake that was exploited and weaponized against me? So I have to ask ~ do the people on this forum only need Visconti's nod of approval for any and all other tuners?! Is he the only tuner in the FRS / BRZ community? Is his work beyond scrutiny but everyone else's isn't? Really? ![]() All things considered, I'm sure Visconti isn't not interested in anything I have to say at this point but you guys reading this can make your own decisions on this. My 2 cents! On another note, I choose to have FA20Club (Tony) work on my tune because he is nice over email/phone, answers all of my questions (without sarcasm or belittlement) and is genuinely honest. P.S. All you guys are great. I love this forum. Let's be friends and have fun with these $25k go-karts!! (: |

My question is, should we really be doing comparisons on the AR intake? It's been well proven that intake is full of fail.
