VSS Connector
I'm trying to:
1) Locate the VSS connector 2) Identify the connector make and model I've assumed that it may be one of these two: ![]()

Reasons:
1) VSS mod for the GPS unit 2) Speedometer calibration To elaborate on #2, when changing final drive ratio or tire diameter, the speedometer needs recalibrating. This can be achieved with a correction unit (http://12oclocklabs.com/). Do you know which of the two connectors in the picture is the VSS. The grey or the brown? Neither? They are located just above the bell housing. |

Most likely those two connectors you have are an engine RPM sensor and some other sensor like a clutch position sensor or something. Speed sensors are not usually located on the bell housing, they are usually located on the back of the transmission near the output shaft to measure the rotational speed of the drive shaft which is directly related to the speed of the car.

Yeah you do not need to change anything when changing the final drive. Racecomp Engineering installed the Cusco 4.51 FD and did no changes, the speedometer is fine. |

Since the speed is determined from the wheel speed sensors a final drive won't effect it, but a tire size change will.

Thats where the connectors sit, but the wiring goes down to the transmission area. I assume the BRZ does still have a speed sensor at the Transmission output shaft? |
