Caffeine blog. So I half-filled up with Sunol's 100 octane last night, what am I suppose to feel? Is <4K rpm keeping me from the potential of this $8 a gallon fuel? After 5 gallons and $40.xx, I had that moment of 'ok that's enuf' and unlocked the trigger lol

Driving with it was a PSYCHOlogical reward, now what . Need to find 150 miles to get 1K then...kneedrag Skyline here I come lmao (2 cups of coffee already)

You're gonna feel your wallet lighter, and that's about it. Cars aren't tuned to run better if you use more than 91 octane.

It won't do anything if the car isn't tuned for 100 octane.

E85 is ethanol, right? From what I've been reading here in the forums, high concentrations is one of the factors that causes the fuel pump to chirp. Im really interested in getting E85, but fear for my engine. Does it burn at a higher temp like high octane fuels?

E85 is 104 Octane. It's 85% ethanol. There is tons of information on this in the internet.

Highest quality E-85 so far appears to be the Chevron off Montague or the Willow Pass one. Sunol E-85 seems to cause more cold-start issues...YMMV.
Exactly. I need to be able to go from point X to point Y at any given time.

So far, there haven't been major issues reported, and many folks like myself have run E-85 in pure or blend form on other Subies without issue. That said, we don't know ultimately what will happen to the longevity of the engine.

For me, I've only had the cold start issue. I think the engine may have failed to turn over and start once during the really cold spell a few weeks ago. Since then, not much trouble at all.

Taking all of the above into account, including the as-yet unknown risk of failure, I would buy the E-85 tune any day of the week. My only regret is that I didn't try it sooner, I had it like 3 months while I waited on the sidelines before filling up with corn juice
So even with the E85 tune some people have knocking? Eh! I wanna try it, but is it worth the risk?
